I know there are a lot of spell-ings (sic) and transliterations of the word. I know recent focus is on tony (anton) lavey. What is it in the Bible? Does it relate to modern cults and conspiracies. What about churches who say things but are a "synagogue of Satan"? Your thoughts, insights, research and references are encouraged.
 
I wasn't sure what this was, so i did a quick look up. Essentially this is just, from what i can read, pure occult. Mixing the bible into it doesn't make it any less occult in nature.

Revelations 9:3 refers to the 'synagogue of Satan' as being people claiming to be Jews, but are actually liars. There are always those eager to point fingers about such biblical statements. Look at how people love naming the Anti-Christ. But i'm not really seeing a tie in to the name.

Granted i just did a quick cursory read to get the gist of what this is about, so there may be more to it that i don't know. But, really, i also don't care. I read enough to know this is all occult teaching and feel no need to go any more in depth. And i am of the opinion this is not a fitting topic for the site.

And just to be certain that i didn't look too quickly and casually i searched again for Shemhamforash and could not find one single reference to it that was not occult based for it's use. It is, essentially, a biblical thing that i can find zero reference to other than by occultists. Despite numerous references to it being in the bible, i found no direction as to where, exactly, it can be found.
 
Thanks for looking into it even if in a cursory way. Perhaps if you add "exodus" to your search terms it will reveal more ... let us know what you find.

it refers to various 'hidden names' of God mentioned in the jewish kabbalist tradition...

the bottom line is that it is mystical esoteric superstition...not worth spending any further time on...

In the Vatican:
Michelangelo also produced the Shemhamforash on the Vatican’s famous ceiling, as his fresco has “an architectural design of 24 columns. On each of these columns are two cherubs, which are mirror imaged on the adjoining column totaling 48 cherubs figures. Then on the 12 triangular spandrels flanking the ceiling borders are an additional 24 nude figures (two bronze nude figures per triangular spandrel) also mirror imaging each other. This totals to 72 cherub figures or the 72 angels of God or names of God [or conversely, the 72 angels that fell and are now the demons or kosmokrators over the nations of the earth].”

Shemhamphorasch, the names of 72 angels or 72 sources of God. The names come from the original Hebrew Exodus 14:19-21. Each of those verses is72 letters and is from one of the most awesome parts of the Bible: God separating the red sea with Moses. Hebrew is read right to left, so the three verses with 72 characters is printed right to left for 14:19, left to right for 14:20, and then right to left for 14:21. The Angels Hebrew names are three Hebrew characters read top to bottom and have IEL or IAH added to the end of each one. This is the Shemhamphorasch. This term comes from the first few characters read right to left translated to English. Its physically unpronounceable by one person. There is not a perfect translation into other languages from the Hebrew, so the names vary a bit. There is a bible psalm for each Angel where King David encoded the Angel's name in Hebrew in a line along with God's name.

Thank you all for the replies. I agree this looks like an evil system. But disagree that it is not a part of the Bible or should be dismissed lightly. I would also agree it is topic for those deeply immersed in scripture scholarship and not for the average go to church sheep without a shepherd as some might be led astray. This makes such a forum a better place for such a discussion - separate and apart from the others.

Zone is a user who has come and gone from this forum a few times. Some of them for being banned.

If the roots of it is in occultism then i see no need for there to be further discussion about it here. Because an occult group references the bible does not make it any less occult.
Sounds to me as though you are adopting the attitude that since you see it as tied in biblically, despite it not being mentioned in the bible, makes it legitimate discussion for those minds of a higher elevated state and not for the typical idiot Christian. This attitude reflects an occult attitude. That of something hidden in scripture that can only be revealed to those who have some special insight to dig deep. A few elect who are enlightened and can find the hidden mysteries of God while the rest of the lower forms wander around in their blissful ignorance content in the shallowness of their understanding.
As is often common in occult circles this is an attitude of pride, which i can't help but notice the parallel with Lucifer. Elevating of oneself to be something special and above others who lack your spiritual and mental prowess as well as your enlightenment.

As i stated, this is an occult topic, and an occult mentality. If the topic is pushed further i will report it for pushing occult teaching in the name of the bible. Call me a sheep, that's fine. The God i serve doesn't promote this high minded thinking and self elevation. Nor does He promote the idea that some are of a special stature that they are graced with special knowledge that others are not, essentially, good enough to know.

Hide it behind the bible. Hide it behind the idea that it is a conspiracy. But there's no hiding it's occult base.

The TRUTH is that all these things that you are pointing to are nothing(s)...they are temporal shadows that were used to point us to THE ONE spoken of from the beginning.

And those who know HIM shouldn't be going backwards to these lower passing things...that stood as shadows and representations and signs and pictures and prefigures of all the TRUTHS and REALITIES found in CHRIST JESUS.

Man should go straight to THE SOURCE of GOD'S TRUTH and HIDDEN WISDOM which is CHRIST and HIM CRUCIFIED...for the salvation of ALL those who would believe by faith in HIS NAME.

For the SON alone came to manifest THE NAME...
None other...
They were only temporal things to point us to CHRIST...


Satan always likes to deceive those who do not know the TRUTH and that all the TRUTH(S) of GOD are found in CHRIST JESUS...

To THE TESTIMONY and THE LAW.
If they speak NOT according to THE WORD..it is because there is no LIGHT therein.

I haven't looked into that thread, but if anyone would like to understand that GOD, who knows our limited humanity, knew that we need signs and representations and visible things to understand HIS HIGHER and HIDDEN TRUTHS, simply "hid" HIS SON in HIS WORD...
Every word of scripture, every priest, every prophet, every judge, every king were simply shadows pointing to and speaking of THE SON whom was planned from the beginning.

GOD, in HIS GRACE, knowing our limited humanity, provided sign upon sign upon sign rearing us up to KNOW HIM...so that at the fullness of time, when the BODY, prepared before the world ever was, might come forth to do HIS WILL, we would look back and bring to remembrance that ALL ALONG, GOD spoke of HIS SON...

The TRUTH is that all these little things, these signs and symbols and things that are temporal and passing are nothings and no things..they are temporal shadows that were used to point us to THE ONE spoken of from the beginning.

And those who know HIM shouldn't be going backwards to these lower passing things...that stood as shadows and representations and signs and pictures and prefigures of all the TRUTHS and REALITIES found in CHRIST JESUS, and HIM ALONE.

And THE SON ALONE came to MANIFEST THE FATHER...and HE ALONE had all authority to show/declare/reveal/manifest THE FATHER because HE came forth from GOD...

But satan likes to add confusion, sowing in seeds of doubt and confusion amongst those who do not know THE TRUTH...and that all GOD'S TRUTH are found in CHRIST JESUS..

We were already warned what will happen to those who do...

And men telling men what GOD might have said by HIS WORD?
All the while suggesting and pointing to what did not come from GOD but were the imaginings, suggestions and yeast of superstitious men telling other men "what GOD really said">

Thank GOD that the SPIRIT is TRUTH and that the SPIRIT leads us to all TRUTH or the lack of truth in all things...

I will not entertain the voices of other spirits...

Oh rather the opposite pay very CLOSE attention to the ONE who entered in and remains behind the TRUE VEIL...for no man can enter in except through THAT VEIL...and if he does not enter in, he remains outside of THAT REFUGE provided by GOD...

Any man who offers his own input, suggestions, notions, ideas, thoughts, doctrines outside the TRUTH is a man who is offering yeast to the PURE BREAD which comes from GOD and is in fact, teaching men to "eat" from the "wrong king's table"...food that defiles...

Thank goodness that Daniel wouldn't eat from the table of the wrong king. (Daniel 1)

So why would those who are born of CHRIST'S SPIRIT even entertain this notion?
