I had one I picked up for $5 at a garage sale but the blades were a bit rusty and I couldn't sharpen them, I was going to but didn't end up doing it and dad still used his masport, so when the inorganic rubbish collection came round I put it out as it was taking up space in the garage.

I found last night as was going through my clothes to pack for my trip that I have nothing to go with my dress like a 'smart' jacket. My sister was horrified that I didn't have anything 'smart' I only had puffy jacket, or a cardigan.

So now I have to go out and find one otherwise she won't want to be seen with her 'dumb' sister who doesn't own any 'smart' clothes lol

I've never owned life insurance.

A friend and I were just talking about this a week or so ago.

I don't have anyone depending on me, such as a spouse or young children, so I've never seen a reason to purchase it.

It seems to be a rather interesting and contentious subject in some circles.

I have known some people in situations where the grandparents wanted to take out large life insurance policies on their grandchildren as soon as they were born.

These weren't policies in which the grandchildren would benefit if the grandparents died.

Rather, it was the exact opposite. The grandparents would cash in if the grandchildren were to die.

Is it just me, or does this seem more than a bit morbid?

I have never heard about grandparents kids kind of thing.

I believe some basic coverage from work, such as half year salary life insurance, to cover funeral cost so it will not be a burden to others. But beyond that, maybe not necessary.

God will provide. If the survivors gets too much money, I am not sure it is a good thing. Very often money does damages.

always look over any old item you purchase very thoroughly. those mowers became very popular after the housing crash go 2008 . even so, where women bought them to save money & exercise while mowing the lawn.

Well it's like buying a used car you need to be savvy and not just buy the first one you see. New car owners don't need to worry as their cars would be under warranty for the first 5 years I think.

I have never owned one because they are so expensive. Plus they depreciate as soon as you drive them off the lot.

The only brand new cars I have ever bought were Hot Wheels. But they are really hard to get into. I mean I think I'd need to buy some shrinking powder as well but I can never find it. If I lived in England I'd probably go for a Mini.

have you though about taking out a bank loan to get started. ask friends for monetary assistance, relatives? remember, i started my landscape business with a half broken 16" sears craftsman lawn mower. as i earned money, i spent it on improving the business. i was blessed with a huge amount of work the 1st day i put my ad in the newspaper. how's your ambition level? you seem to be a smart lady, i think you could get motivated to initiate your own business. you have talents too, don't ever forget that. & you certainly have the assistance of Jesus. blessings to you.

No I would need a business plan first and my business plan at the moment is no plan because I don't really see anything or my skills as being profitable enough to break even, let alone pay back the loan...even if I had 5 years.

I mean what would you pay me for? Sure I could mow lawns, but anyone with a mower can. And they wouldn't pay me to do it, because I'm not that fast, or strong, when other companies have entire teams doing it and there are lots of people doing it. But now there are less lawns to mow because of infill housing, and most people can't afford to pay someone else to do something they could do themselves, and the oldies are moving into retirement villages anyway, where, they contract out the mowing or do it in-house with their maintainence team.

I mean thats just lawn mowing as an example. But I don't really make anything that people would buy or offer a service that I liked enough to do all the time. Well I can't think of anything.

People here generally want you to do things for free which is why people want volunteers and not have to pay you. Also I don't know any rich people, and I don't have rich relatives or friends that would loan me money. I'd definitely have to pay them back, as I don't like to be in debt.

You seem passionate about gardening and writing ✍. That's good start. Usually when you are passionate, you will do a good job, people will hire you.

The rents are high and you need to do it 24/7 it seems, though this was a chain/franchise independently owned one but I do see how much work it is.

Plus online has put the death knell to bricks and mortar, not to mention the behemoth that is Amazon. And even if you owned something like Amazon, you'd need a huge loan, to buy a warehouse so you can store all your books, and teams of people picking and packing, and teams of people doing all the admin, cataloguing and ordering. That is a lot of work, and a huge responsiblity to be an employer. And then you have to work out all the taxes you need to pay etc.

Also my Bible lady friend gave me a denim jacket she bought but couldn't wear. She said it made her look like a bikie but it looked ok on me.

Oh but I don't own a motorbike! Or an e-bike. Just a basic push pedal one. So I may possibly wear my new denim jacket with the black pedal pushers and a pink t shirt I snagged from the donation pile when I'm cycling. Oh and bicycle helmet of course.
