So I was reading in another thread and a question popped into my head. What is the "abomination?" Is that where the idol or Antichrist will sit in the temple of God and say that he is in fact a god or even God himself?

Also is this happening right now? I know the end times are upon us but I'm having trouble keeping track of where we are exactly.

The abomination that maketh desolate......The man of sin the son of perdition...the beast that desecrates and makes desolation.....Satan in a man worshipped as God....it would seem to be....AKA the Anti-Christ (so-called)

I think your first statement nailed it but we won't be here when that happens.

Abomination = white chocolate and black liquorish.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, specifically, JF. Sorry. :(

Many believe we are living in the Book of Acts as of this post, while many [also] are convinced we are living in the end times. I'm no Bible scholar, nor do I want to add or subtract from Revelation (Revelation 22:18-19), though it seems to boil down to whether particular prophecies are believed to have passed or be currently passing or not. I've seen people outright deny any prophecy actually having passed, so I don't have a black or white answer.

Paul said the body presence of Christ and our gathering together unto him will NOT HAPPEN until AFTER
1. THE MAN OF SIN BE REVEALED
2. The complete APOSTATIZATION of HUMANITY

2nd Thessalonians 2:1-6 :)

Why is this so hard for you to acknowledge as this is written to a GENTILE CHURCH at Thessalonica? TO the SAINTS (SAVED) and it is obvious that the context is the SAINTS BEING GATHERED at the COMING OF JESUS......

The Abomination of Desolation will be when the Antichrist defiles the temple placing something in it that defiles it. In the days before Jesus during the time of the Maccabees, the Jews were overthrown and I believe it was a statue of Zeus that was setup in the temple defiling it. It will likely be something similar to this.

Regarding the time, I believe we are very close to the end. I believe we're with a generation.

That's another good thing to bring up! When will the tribulation take place; before or after everything blows up?

The GREAT TRIBULATION is the 7 seals, the 7 Trumpets and the 7 Thunders (which are hidden)...The WRATH of GOD is the 7 bowls and or viols of God's wrath

Tribulation-->thilpsis-->persecution, pressure, troubles, difficulties
Wrath-->orge---->fiery indignation of God

Through much TRIBULATION we must enter the kingdom of God
We have been saved from WRATH by HIM (JESUS)

Interesting you should mention that. Yesterday in art class we were talking about this painting, the one where God and adam are almost toughing hands, the one in the cistene chapel. Anyway he said that weren't really looking at a picture of the Christian God but instead a portrayal of Zeus. I dunno if this has any relevance but I thought it was interesting.

The tribulation a.k.a. Jacob's Trouble is designed to bring the Jews en masse to repentance but the church will be raptured before then. The trigger of the great trib., is the Jews signing a peace accord with the antichrist.

Yeah I think you got it, a man proclaiming he is "God" the title of popes - "vicar of Christ" means "in the place of Christ"...

There are many anti-Messiah's and have been throughout time.

Antiochus IV (175-164 BC), was the 8th ruler of the Seleucid empire. He gave himself the surname "Epiphanes" which means "the visible god"

Constantine called himself
Pontifex Maximus which means "greatest high priest" ONLY THE MESSIAH IS HIGH PRIEST:

Hebrews 4:1-15, "Seeing then that we have a great High Priest Who has ascended into the heavens: Yahshua the Son of Yahweh, let us hold fast our profession. For we do not have a High Priest Who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all ways tempted as we are--yet was without sin."

all the popes, because the popes call themselves;

Vicar of Christ

A title of the pope implying his supreme and universal primacy, both of honour and of jurisdiction, over the Church of Christ....In the course of the ages other vicarial designations have been used for the pope, as Vicar of St. Peter and even Vicar of the Apostolic See (Pope Gelasius, I, Ep. vi), but the title Vicar of Christ is more expressive of his supreme headship of the Church on earth.

Phillipians 3:20, "But our citizenship is in heaven, out from which we also eagerly wait for our Ruler, Yahshua Messiah the King."

John 10:16, "And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd (4166. poimén)."

they even "replaced" the Intercessor,. they say it's Mary but that s a whole other convo, just trying to illustrate they are trying/acting like they can replace HIM...

1 Timothy 2:5, "For One is Yahweh; and One Mediator between Yahweh and men: the Man, Yahshua Messiah."

1 Timothy 2:5, "For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."

I do believe there will be a end time anti-Messiah, and these are just same/similar types, of course the last one will go beyond these so far...

Sorry that is not to complete but a basic start?

When Jesus had John write to the church which was at Pergamos he said....

I know thou dwellest where Satan's seat is located.....

What was located at Pergamos.......The throne of Zeus......!

I think your first statement nailed it but we won't be here when that happens.

According to Messiah we will be;

Mattithyah 24:29-31, "Immediately, but after the tribulation of those days will the sun be darkened, and the moon will not give her light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven; and then will all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His malakim with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of earth to the other."

1 Corinthians 15:50-54, "Now I say this brothers: that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of Yahweh; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.Behold, I show you a secret truth: we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible will have put on incorruption, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will be brought to pass the saying that is written: Death is swallowed up in victory."

Greater theologians than us differ on this point. Why should we rebeat this dead horse?

The abomination which makes desolate in the Hebrew was a term to mean an unclean thing sitting in the holy place.

In order for their to be an abomination, there must be a temple, with a Holy plce to desecrate with an unclean thing.

Back before Christ, Anticochus Epiphanies desecrated the holy place by slaughtering a pig in the inner sanctuary, to the jews, A pig is a dirty animal. not even to be eaten.

That is interesting.

Regarding the time, the early Christians wrote of man being under the curse for 6000 years and that at the end of that time God would conclude this age. I've looked into this and there is a good bit of evidence to support what they say from the Scriptures. If that is the case the 6000 years are about fulfilled. Most Scholars acknowledge 2000 years from creation to Abraham, 2000 years from Abraham to Christ, and we are almost 2000 years from the Crucifixion, that would be 6000 years.

Actually, everything isn't going to blow up, it's going to be renewed. God is going to renew the entire creation.

see post #14.

I didnt read that post before I posted this, but I did feel I had to Scriptural show, because this could be a terrible deception if someone thinks they are supposed to be gone and they are still here? Yah's children need His word. Will not get thread off track as that is not the main topic here.
