It's hard to explain but I know they don't mean the same when someone gets called that.

Hot woman = a woman who is experiencing higher than normal temperatures in their body which could lead them to become dehydrated.

Beautiful woman = me.

I've never cared for calling women 'hot'. To me such a reference strips a woman down to nothing more than appearance and sexuality and erases her humanity and femininity.
Beautiful, on the other hand, hints at more than the appearance of their looks and has a more open ended implication.

Ironically this was a topic on The Office, 'is Hillary Swank hot?'. Perhaps a bit crass, but an effective way of putting it, one worker there, Kevin, says 'a painting can be beautiful, but i wouldn't want to bang a painting'.
Beautiful has depth, 'hot' is shallow.

Like the above poster, I too don't usually like calling women I find attractive "hot". I just feel like that's something a young, immature person would say about a woman. Not that I'm SO much more mature, but....

If I find a woman attractive, I normally feel much more comfortable calling her pretty or cute. Or beautiful if she's exceptionally attractive.

Just my two cents. :)

Many things can be beautiful. It is how shapes and colours are pleasing to our eyes. With faces it comes down to ratios of where the facial features are arranged. Hot has to do with how that person makes you feel. The way a person looks at you or makes you lustful is hot. A child can be beautiful without making you desire them.

Using the term hot or a smoke is tasteless and classless and just objectifies a woman. Men who use that just makes all men look bad. Calling her beautiful Gives a woman a much broader range of her as a whole person, all the qualities a good man looks for and yes pretty too 😊

I realllllly don't like being called "hot" , not that it happens very often. It just feels cheap and fake. To me there are so many more appropriate compliments for a woman...example pretty, beautiful, lovely, precious (yes like Gollum from LOTR) , sweet....you get the picture.

1. To whom you are saying hot/beautiful matters; context matters.
2. Nothing's wrong with telling your wife she is hot and beautiful.
3. How you say it, rather than what you say, matters much more.

Example:
a) Husband: (*while looking at his wife) "You look beautiful." (with no emotion whatsoever)
vs
b) Husband: (*looking deeply into his wife's eyes) "You look so...hot." (with such sincerity and intensity)

Both are nice.
Beautiful is more about the beauty of character and appearance.
Hot is like sexy. Its a mix between gorgeous and sexy or sex appeal..
Thats how id keep it apart

I tend to lean on this thinking. Hot seems shallow.

For me words of affirmation isn't high on my list. Give me actions any day. Don't tell me compliments all the time, show me how you feel with actions to back it up. This reminds me.. new topic coming up! :)

For those offended by “hot”, are “sexy” or “yummy” equally demeaning?

Hot, gorgeous, sexy, etc., I reserve those for my girlfriend. There's a little extra behind those words. Beautiful/pretty can be used much more widely and are a far better choice if you're looking to compliment a girl.

I don’t like being called cute or pretty. You can use those words on puppies or kittens but not me😊

Calling me hot isn’t flattering either, I feel like it’s a word to describe a man looking at a woman out of lust, and vice verca. I do understand that a husband may call his wife that, which is fine, but personally I wouldn’t like to be called such - but I would admit, that I have said: “that pizza is hot!” Lol.

I’d prefer to be judged by my character/intelligence and personality first before appearance, and if it were by appearance, then using words like beautiful, fairfully, lovely, righteous or faithful would be nice 😊. And if I had a husband, then I’d like to call him honey, darling, or my love in return.

I just want to also say to everyone in here that you are beautiful/handsome, and created in Gods perfect image - don’t forget that you are His masterpiece ❤️ F64B3B46-4C8B-4A52-B22A-D6E7A4CEF7AD.jpeg

Hot is admired from afar; beauty is to be held.

Hot is perception; beauty is appreciation.

Hot is smokey-eyed; beautiful is bare-faced.

Hot is an appearance; beautiful is more than skin deep.

Hot is the way she moans; beautiful is the way she speaks.

Hot is a strong appeal; beautiful is strong mind.

Hot is youthful; beautiful is ageless.

Hot is conventional; beauty is unique.
