What is the meaning of life?

  • “For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it. But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.” (Proverbs 2.21,22).

Why do people ache for living many years if they can’t find joy, if everything that they do is to engage in picayune activities in exchange for money to spend in vain amusements? What is the point of working in a job or doing religious services if this doesn’t bring an interior transformation about in us or in people around us?

Go over this verses:

  • “All things I have seen in the days of my vanity; there is a just one who perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked one who prolongs life in his wickedness.” (Ecclesiastes 7:15);
  • “There is a vanity which is done on the earth: There are just ones to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked ones to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.” (Ecclesiastes 8:14).
  • “All happens alike to all; there is one event to the righteous and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him who sacrifices, and to him who does not sacrifice. As is the good, so is the sinner. He who swears is as he who fears an oath.” (Ecclesiastes 9.2).

As you can see, many times our concept of justice is twisted. It isn’t in vain that Paul said that If we have hope in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most miserable (1Corinthians 15.19). After all, with our concept of blessing or doom bonded to what is delightful to the flesh, many times we undergo situations that don’t add up (as shown in Ecclesiastes).

On the other hand, if we are able to walk on our high places (Habakkuk 3.19), trampling over the concept of good and evil (recall that the Creator enjoined to Adam not to prove of it – Genesis 2.17), we will be able to contemplate the real award *in our character* (washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit – Titus 3.5), *in our mind* (the treasures of the ken and of the knowledge – Colossians 2.3), *in our spirit* (the glory of Christ in us – Romans 8.18; 2Corinthians 4.16; 7.9,10; 1Peter 1.6,7), *in our being as a whole* (without lacking of anything - Philippians 4.11-13; Psalms 23.1).

Have a great day experiencing the reason of living, living in according to the alliance of Jesus with you (Psalms 25.14).
