What is the meaning of the passage of the ten virgins (Part 1)?
In order to understand this passage, we need to figure out the meaning of each element.
1 – LAMP:
Let’s see what the Holy Scripture says:
a) Spirit of man (the eye of the heart) is the lamp that allow the Creator to manifest His light in him and through him, so that all his body can be used as an instrument for people knowing the Creator (Rom 6:13,19):
• Pro 20:27 -> “The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all his innermost parts.”.
• Mat 6:22 -> “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,”.
b) The word of the Creator, that is to say, His commandments, teachings, prophetic words:
• Psa 119:105 -> “our word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”.
• 2Pe 1:19 -> “And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,”.
• Pro 6:23 -> “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life;”.
The spirit of those who abide by His word is used by the Creator to make the person a lamp in this world (as it was with John, the Baptist):
• Joh 5:35 -> “He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.”.
And should be thus with the descendants of David:
• 1Ki 15:4 -> “Nevertheless, for David's sake the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, setting up his son after him, and establishing Jerusalem,”.
Unfortunately, many of his offspring depart from the Creator and His lamp was put out. After all, the lamp of the wicked, that is to say, haughty and proud heart, is sin:
• Pro 13:9 -> “The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked will be put out.”.
• Pro 20:20 -> “If one curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in utter darkness.”.
• Pro 21:4 -> “Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin.”.
• Pro 24:20 -> “for the evil man has no future; the lamp of the wicked will be put out.”.
In short, the LAMP is the spirit of those who receive all the word of the Creator in their heart.
So, have a good day being a lamp through which the Creator’s glory can issue His light all around the world. After all, as body of Christ, we need to be a lamp like Him:
• Rev 21:23 -> “And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.”.
