What is the meaning of the passage of the ten virgins (Part 5)?
I) The Creator sent 10 plagues on the Egypt to afflict the Egyptians and prove His power and fidelity to Israel.
II) 10 was the number of years that Naomi lived in Moab, coming to lose her two sons and husband. This was a great probation. Nevertheless, as she stayed firm with the Creator, she gained a friend who was better to her than her husband and sons together:
• Rth 1:4 -> “These took Moabite wives; the name of the one was Orpah and the name of the other Ruth. They lived there about ten years,”.
• Rth 4:15 -> “He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.””.
III) The Creator imparted to Moses the 10 commandments which denounced the 10 malignity that most entices the man in order to make him to fall in apostasy and, thereby, put him apart from Jesus and His purpose for him. In other words, these 10 commandments manifest the 10 more temptations which put the man in assessment before the Creator.
• Exo 34:28 -> “So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.”
IV) Jesse sent 10 loaves to David’s brothers (who were only 7) and 10 cheeses to the commander of 1000 when they were probed by the Creator through Goliath. The aim was to appraise the value of David for himself and all Israel:
• 1Sa 17:17,18 -> “And Jesse said to David his son, “Take for your brothers an ephah of this parched grain, and these ten loaves, and carry them quickly to the camp to your brothers. Also take these ten cheeses to the commander of their thousand. See if your brothers are well, and bring some token from them.””.
V) 10 days was the time that David had to bide until he could experience the judgment of the Creator against Nabal, when he refused to help David. This was a proof to David:
• 1Sa 25:38,39 -> “And about ten days later the LORD struck Nabal, and he died. When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed be the LORD who has avenged the insult I received at the hand of Nabal, and has kept back his servant from wrongdoing. The LORD has returned the evil of Nabal on his own head.” Then David sent and spoke to Abigail, to take her as his wife.”.
VI) 10 was the number of concubines of David who were violated by Absalom in order to proof to all Israel that he had made himself a stench to his father:
• 2Sa 15:16 -> “So the king went out, and all his household after him. And the king left ten concubines to keep the house.”.
• 2Sa 16:21,22 -> “Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Go in to your father's concubines, whom he has left to keep the house, and all Israel will hear that you have made yourself a stench to your father, and the hands of all who are with you will be strengthened.” So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof. And Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.”.
