You are correct... it is what is known as both the law and teachings of the old covenant, which is also restated in the renewed covenant, but without the things that were done away with, such as the sacrifices which are no longer needed since that part has been fulfilled in Yahushua.
The law part seems to be where people get the legalism issues because of the added commandments after the ones written by Yah Himself.
Yahushua made it as simple as possible by stating all of it being fulfilled in two commandments, both of which are of love, and WHO is love? There's only one thing we know of that Yah wrote Himself in all the scriptures, and we know He does not change.
The Torah is our lesson to learn from that we might understand how we should be, but have been unable to until He came and provided the Way for us, making it simple.
