I'm curious who knows this without looking it up...
If you don't, that is fine look it up and learn.
I know of at least two here I think already know the answer.
 
Your'e asking what is Torah? Is that different than The Torah? The Torah is the first five books of the OT also known as the Pentateuch. Not sure if that's what your'e asking.

The Torah is the first five books of the OT - the books of the Law.

You are correct... it is what is known as both the law and teachings of the old covenant, which is also restated in the renewed covenant, but without the things that were done away with, such as the sacrifices which are no longer needed since that part has been fulfilled in Yahushua.

The law part seems to be where people get the legalism issues because of the added commandments after the ones written by Yah Himself.

Yahushua made it as simple as possible by stating all of it being fulfilled in two commandments, both of which are of love, and WHO is love? There's only one thing we know of that Yah wrote Himself in all the scriptures, and we know He does not change.

The Torah is our lesson to learn from that we might understand how we should be, but have been unable to until He came and provided the Way for us, making it simple.

The TaNaK IS SCRIPTURE, the Talmud IS NOT SCRIPTURE.

Tanakh;

Torah (Laws, Pentateuch)- the first five books of the Hebrew Bible considered as a unit
Nebiim, (Prophets) - Ezra to Malachi (all the prophets)
Hagiographa, Ketubim, Writings - Historical writings (Kings, Judges, Chronicles)

"Tanakh"; Simply the hebrew wording.



But again the Talmud is very evil and is not Scripture.

I would agree with this.

John (Yahchanan) says the Instructions are love; and Yahshua explained them PERFECTLY!

Mattithyah 22:36-40, "Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law? Yahshua said to him: You must love Yahweh your Father with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

Matt 7:12, "So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to and for them, for this is (sums up) the Law and the Prophets."
 
Torah is the first five books of the Bible but many times we refer to the o.t. the Tanakh as Torah.
