This is a bird that doesn't fly, but swims instead. Are they the missing link between fish and birds? Or maybe birds and dolphins? Or are they some kind of creature that will eventually evolve into fur seals? Or maybe they ARE fur seals, but just with better flippers, so they are the more evolved ones.

Why did God create penguins? Are they mentioned in the Bible?
Are they one of the creatures thats forbidden for the Israelites to eat because they have no fins?
Or is it because penguins don't like living near Israel?
How come penguins don't live in the North Pole, after all, it's cold up there. Or in snowy mountains? They could hang out in the lake. It looks like they could slide down the slopes, but how would they get back up if they can't fly? Why would you create a bird that couldn't fly? Makes no sense.

Also, how can you tell them apart?

Ostriches are birds that do not fly, and here is what God has to say about them:

Job 39:13-18

13 Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?

14 Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,

15 And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.

16 She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear;

17 Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.

18 What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.

The part about "she scorneth the horse and his rider" is important because ostriches can outrun horses. In the context of what we just read, it certainly seems to me that God is saying that he created them that way.

I just happened to get this video from Edward Group this evening from his trip to Africa. He's collecting special botanicals for his supplement company.
The first thing he shows are penguins! Who'd think they live in hot South Africa??

South Africa isn't that hot...its coastal, but...looks like the penguins there are vulnerable and endangered thanks to humans ruination. Like everywhere.

Is he saying God doesn't make her very smart...??
Also, does she hide her head in the sand as well if she doesn't want anyone to see her or has a problem? Its called 'ostriching'

Did God also make humans ...only human?

Kiwis hide their eggs in holes in trees. The dads look after them. Penguin dads are the same, devoted to their chicks while the mum goes and hunts for food. Penguins warm their chicks under their legs and between their feet, they have special flabs of fat there.

Also, why are penguins associated with potato chips? This is not part of their regular diet!

Note the chicken flavoured potato chips - NOT penguin flavoured.

I cannot answer your questions with any certainty beyond what is written in God's word. In light of his word, I would remind you that we live in a fallen world, and the fall definitely affected what we might call the animal kingdom. For example, it appears that serpents originally had legs, but because of the curse they now slither on their bellies. When God cursed the serpent, he said that it was cursed above all cattle and above every beast of the field. Genesis 3:14. This seems to indicate that the curse affected all the animal kingdom. Since the serpent's curse affected its physical makeup and abilities, the same may be true of other creatures as well. We do see in portions of scripture like Isaiah 11:6-9 and 65:25 animals seemingly returning to how they used to be before the fall of man after the second coming of Christ, so we ought not necessarily assume that the way animals are now is how God originally created them to be.

Did animals originally speak in a language that could be understood by humans? Maybe. Eve spoke with a serpent before the fall, and God did open the mouth of Balaam's donkey so it spoke in a language that Balaam could understand. We really don't know exactly how animals were before the fall of man.

Well that's something to think about
I do talk to animals. Just because they don't respond in my language (i.e English) doesn't mean they can't understand me, or that I can't understand them.

In case of Penguins, I don't think they are cursed if their swimming abilities are anything to go by. I suppose like mermaids, they are fish out of water on land. Fish of course are not creatures of the field. So...

Well mermaids don't exist as such, but I like to imagine that in an ideal world we could all live underwater, its so beautiful in the reefs and the way swimming is kind of like flying, but underwater. We wouldn't be restricted by our own two feet.

I suppose this is why vehicles were invented, cars, planes, submarines etc.
I think in terms of as curses go, the worst thing that happened to the animal kingdom, is our failure to look after them and their habitat. It's very easy for humans to destroy both animals and their habitat, and take it for ourselves. Part of the reason why sacrifice was important and ritualistic is because respect needs to be shown to the animals esp those that give their lives for us so we can live. And they are the ones that pay for our sin!

Jesus came so that they would no longer need to be sacrifice, his sacrifice paid for sins of all mankind so we wouldn't go on polluting the world with our sin. When the veil was torn in two, that meant there would be no more sacrifice at the temple in Jerusalem. If you recall, thousands upon thousands of animals were sacrificed there. Blood was running all over the altar. Jesus didn't want this, it was like a den of theives there with the animals and the money changers like some kind of cattleyard.

Have you ever been to a cattleyard? Like a slave auction. Everyone bids on the animals they want that would make good meat or sire the most or makes the most money. It's a meat market basically.

I could not tell you if or how they are cursed, but this world is a different place than it was at the time of creation. Of that, I am confident. Consider Emperor penguins. Unlike most penguins, their habitat is freezing cold snow. Was there snow at the time of creation? Seemingly, it had never rained before the time of Noah's flood. Many Christians believe that the earth was a giant tropical paradise before atmospheric changes took place at the time of the flood, so animals seemingly wouldn't have been suited to live in cold climates. However, now we see many different types of animals living in the cold. When or how did those adaptations take place? I don't know. I am simply suggesting that you don't fall into the trap of thinking that the way things are now necessarily reflects the way that things used to be. That is called "uniformitarianism," and that is part of what has proponents of evolution so confused.

I don't believe the earth was a giant tropical paradise necessarily. Or there was no rain or snow. I wouldn't think penguins are cursed because of living in the snow or that their adaptations are part of the curse and it made them change.

It's more, humans caused the earth to be cursed, because of bad behaviour and after the flood, the animals feared and dreaded man. Now we can kill and eat them, so that why animals are afraid of us.

Am sure God created penguins just cos He wanted to, unlike evolutionists who believe that we all animals had common ancestor and that a bird is meant to do this or that and they evolved from dinosaurs or some such nonsense as time went on. I was just poking fun at evolutionary theory. I don't believe a penguin can evolve into a fur seal or all birds flew and the penguins somehow lost their wings and got flippers instead. Or that apes or monkeys started walking more upright and started wearing clothes and became humans.

What we see is a combination of natural selection, migration, and adaptation to climate and habitat for all the different creatures out there. Cats have always been cats and dogs dogs though there are so many different breeds and varieties of cats and dogs.

Along with climate change there was also continental drift, and land based animals were spread to different places, so those that survived would have been the ones that were best suited to the area they ended up. Keep on breeding/multiplying for many years and those that survive will be naturalised and thrive the most in the areas where they do well or mostly where they can find food and sustenance. Sadly many animals are endangered and facing extinction, as many have in the past because they've been hunted to the brink or their habitat has been destroyed. By humans (us!) the very ones God trusted to look after them.

I don’t believe in evolution, so I don’t believe there is any missing link to any animal, that God made them as is, they were on the ark with the rest of the animals and they are just goofy and cute.

I don't believe the earth was a giant tropical paradise necessarily.
You don't have to, but the fossil records seem to indicate that it was.
Or there was no rain or snow.

Genesis 2:4-6

4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

We know that there was no rain up until at least this point in time.
I wouldn't think penguins are cursed because of living in the snow or that their adaptations are part of the curse and it made them change.
I don't really believe that either, but the curse might have affected their ability to fly.

This is true, but like you said, the fear or dread of man part seemingly did not start until after the flood. Prior to the flood and as a direct result of Adam's sin, all of creation was negatively affected, including the animal kingdom. Romans 8:18-22. Exactly how the animal kingdom was affected, I cannot say for certain.

Oh ok
Tropical places do have water, it's said there was a river, and yes mists rise from the ground. But also, cold places have mists, fog, etc. It doesn't have to rain for there to be snow. It's frozen vapour, not rain freezing as it falls to the ground.

In tropic regions, the forest there is RAINforest, so to have forest and no rain wouldn't make sense...in the beginning of course God wouldn't have caused it to rain, as he was watering from below (irrigation via river, and springs) the plants would have been small and tiny and not fully grown yet. If it had rained the seeds would have been washed away.

hmm Romans 8:18-22 in KJV keeps referring to 'the creature' which is an odd translation. Then it talks about the 'whole creation'. Is it just referring to 'flesh' or is 'the creature' meaning all the beasts of the earth. Cos if its meaning animal kingdom it's lost me. Maybe its just meaning all of creation - like the entire planet. Well of course cursing the earth is going to affect all the land based creatures, penguins probably have better chances of survival than most during the flood, they wouldn't have had to wait too long after the flood waters subsided they could have just dived off the ark.

Penguins gonna penguin
As long as they have their favourite food (sardines and anchovies?) they'll hang round.

Pingu speaks Penguinese or Pinguish

People talk about the lion being King of beasts but an Emperor trumps a king. Plus it really does look like the Emperor Penguins have an ENTIRE CONTINENT to themselves. Can't say that about many animals.

Quick somebody translate the gospel into Penguinese. Come on Jesus WALKED ON WATER! He multiplied loaves and FISHES. Jesus wanted the gospel spread to the ENDS of the Earth. That must include Antarctica and all the coastal areas.
He's the most penguin friendly of them all.

What did Buddha or Muhammed or Joseph Smith ever do for penguins?
