Today, As I see breakup and divorce rate souring it reminds me of real estate with so many houses for sale and a lot of foreclosing. There just seems to be a great deal of neglect, discontentment and lack of commitment to what God gives to us, especially in the house of God of which God says He will judge FIRST. 1 Peter 4:17
I hear many people in this arena say, “He isn't as spiritual as I am” or “we don’t spend time together and have grown apart”, or “I realize that she goes to bed early, loves to shop and I am a late person and i like to fish…we have nothing in common”. Let’s face it; none of us usually marry equally yoked as the bible tells us to. The bible also tells us for the salvation of the marriage we should not live together without the commitment of marriage, so without living together, how can every quirk be seen? And what is to be done if that sold out Christian spouse suddenly stalls or falls in their walk? There seemed to be a vision, but now it leads to the valley of utter disappointment ....
Any evil that comes against us will be worked for good. I didn’t say that, The Lord did. Romans 8:28. So if you believe this you need to also understand the following analogy:
Say you are going to buy a house. check out the outside and it’s nice. You check out the land and it seems enough. You check out the inside and it works for you. However, now, through the years, you are thinking to sell it because: 1) Too small outgrow it(ie: immaturity) want a bigger one for more storage to put your excess and there is no room (ie: contention over money)2) grew tired of it (ie: bored) 3) want a newer or prettier one because the small problems were ignored until bigger problems arise and is beyond repair, etc. 4) want a smaller one -tired of cleaning the big one.
Now, the problem at the first was not the house. It was the person or the vision of the person who bought it. The buyer settled for whatever reasons for THAT house. Maybe it was bought without thought of the future? Luke 14:28-30. Maybe there wasn't enough insight for possible future problems, nor any emergency plan money saved, it was purchased to live above the means. Maybe you were just tired of renting (dating, courting) and it just was too expensive to rent with no return on the money. There may be tons of reasons when purchasing a house, but one truth should be known: IF the planning for repairs and reconditioning on your OWN dream house were made ONLY for someone else to buy it ….then why exactly would you have bought any house the first place? Who grows up wanting to be a professional marriage flipper?
Most who recondition houses or cars end up wanting to keep them. Sacrifice causes value to rise. Also, In most cases it would be cheaper to update and recondition than to add more years of principle and interest on a new home or car. After all, the new home will require the same thing in the future, so the new expense is only to buy time.
God says in His word for us to be truthful, patient, kind, suffer long, ready to forgive, to keep no record of wrongs, be merciful and to drop pride …this is Christ. This IS how HE builds and reconditions our nature. He has purchased us with His life; that He would lay it down for our condition and put His all into the house. Isn't this how the foundation of Christianity and our walk with God begins and should end? Shouldn't we do the same for one another?
This is what is required to keep homes safe, sound and repaired.
Contentment comes when we follow Him as our will and desires line up with His. He never gives up on His people. He will not sell what He has purchased, so let not kingdom people sell the kingdom. Holy Spirit of Christ Jesus help us all. Amen.
Don’t give up on the spouse He has given you. Pray without ceasing and believe. He may just be working on one house at a time, so be patient, learn to love God’s way and you shall reap your reward. Be blessed.

Marriage is not like a mortgage that you can reschedule for another property. I can't figure why many professing evangelicals think serial polygamy is somehow Scriptural. The Lord honors faithfulness. Blessings.

The Land that was inherited by the twelve tribes in Israel was a gift from the Lord and wasn't suppose to ever be given up, it was like their birthright which is unlike how we treat land ownership here in America, much less how we treat marriage given by God. Amen.

I think the fulfillment of the blessing for Israel are yet future. Some of the Old Testament promises regarding Israel have not yet come about, but at the moment - as a dispensationalist - my understanding is that the church age of grace will continue until the Rapture (1 Thess. 4) and then God's dealings with Israel will be resumed.
I agree that the whole business of divorce, which God says He hates, just plays havoc to the testimony. The Lord honors faithfulness. Blessings.

Great message. I also have a blog on relationships that my wife and I write together at 2getherinfaith.com #promotinglove
