I am thinking until an understand about "the dead" we can not understand the Word of God or "rightly divide" the events in these end times.

Right now, alive and in terrestrial bodies, and on the earth, are the "spiritually alive" and the "spiritually dead".

Right now, alive and in celestial bodies, in heaven, are the "spiritually alive" and the "spiritually dead".

There are no dead "souls" in the earth, just old dead "carcasses" , in which souls were once housed, that will never be used again.

No one soul has died. Not one. And the Word proves it.

Words used in the bible for "dead"

nekros (Noun and Adjective)
1. With the Article (hoi nekroi) denotes dead bodies, or corpses, or carcasses in the grave, apart from the personality they once had. OT idiom also.
Gen 23.3,4,6,8. Deut 18.11; 28.26 Jer 7.33, 9.22, 19.7 Ezek 37.9 ( Matt 22.3, 1 Cor 15.35)

The world is a big place. Not everybody goes to the same place when they leave their body. I believe there are two of us one for the flesh and one for the spirit. One of us dies and goes back to dust the other continues living at a place slightly higher (toward heaven) or slightly lower (toward death and hades) than where we were on earth when we die but those left behind cannot see us. These realms are earth like realms that have the same appearance as earth. Some of us continue living without even realizing at the outset that we died while others are resting until the resurrection. This means that our spirit has a multidimensional state of being. We can be at multiple locations at the same time. Part of the blessing about the great wedding banquet in the sky is that this is at a time and place where all these multidimensional roads meet and we will become aware of all of our experiences we had in these other places and these experiences will converge into a great reunion with all our loved ones. What an exciting time! Can't wait!

I think the best we can do is look at what Jesus spoke of. Paradise or Abraham’s bosom and hades.

and know that after jesus died, he took paradise to heaven with him.

Could you give me scripture for "not returning to God" and all the rest of the places you mentioned. I missed all that.
I was in the middle of writing this and an accidental swipe of the touchpad and it disappeared. Usually they are just gone for ever at that point. I didn't even know it had posted. Now I have to finish it.

Where does Scripture say the spiritually dead are in heaven?
To be absent from the body is to be with the Lord, and when the silver cord parts the flesh goes back to the dust and the soul goes back to God who gave it and either to the bosom of Abraham or the side with the rich man.

the previous post does not address whether the person returns to God or not but here are a number of biblical phrases and passages that support the post along with some personal experience...

"flesh gives birth to flesh and spirit gives birth to spirit". "he who believes will never die". "God is love". Jesus appeared to the 500 at the same time. Jesus walked through walls when he reappeared on earth. The story of rich man who died and the angels carried him away. "I will be in the heart of the earth for 3 days". The book of Revelation.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord... was that not directed at believers? Stated as a preference?

“For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:1–8).

Which does not address the assertion that spiritually dead are in heaven.

Ecclesiastes also states that the dead know nothing. Do you agree with that? Some Christians do not  And you know, that strikes me as strange. Some will even say such things as, well, they did not know/understand as much back then LOLOLOLOLOLOL while pretending to believe the inerrancy and Holy Spirit inspired nature of Scripture.

Some even say the soul was created immortal, which also contradicts what Scripture explicitly states.

The soul may have been created to be immortal, but immortality is put on at the
end of this age following the resurrection and judgment of all... by believers only.

Continued from my bible app so be sure to check it all out on your own and if you find mistakes please let me know. Like I said above, didn't even know it had posted and don't really have time right now

2. Without the Article (nekroi) persons who were once alive but who are now alive no longer dead persons as distinct from dead bodies Deut 14.1, Jud 4.22 Lam 3.6

3. With a Preposition, without Article (ek nekron) out from among dead people.

4. With a Preposition and with Article (ek ton nekron), out from among the dead bodies or corpses. Eph 5.14, Col 1.18; 2.12

1 Pet 4 nekroi, "people who were then dead, but gospel preached while alive, next clause,

FOR TO THIS END TO THOSE WHO ARE (NOW) DEAD WAS THE GOSPEL PREACHED, THAT THOUGH THEY MIGHT BE JUDGED IN THE FLESH ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF MEN YET THEY MIGHT LIVE AGAIN IN RESURRECTION ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF G0D AS REGARDS THE SPIRIT (SPIRITUAL BODIES) SPOKEN OF IN 1 COR 15.44,45.

Dead flesh bodies know nothing. They are nothing more than dust once the spirit has gone back to God.

7.the dust returns to earth, as it was,
and the spirit returns to God, who gave it!

Where does Scripture say the spiritually dead are in heaven?

It would be a reference to Lazarus. The spiritual dead are dead asleep it used when helping the disciples in their confusion when Christ first said; "he is dead". It did not mean he would not rise again on the last day.

The dead that do not know Christ will never rise to new life and receive the promise our new body. Their corrupted dying flesh and blood will return to the dust from where it was formed from and the their temporal corrupted spirit returns to the father of all spirit life.

The dead, dead know nothing even their memory of things unseen under the sun will disappear. Just as ours. never brought to mind forever more. You could say universal Alzheimer's a dying disease.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Thank you.

It all comes down to order and simplicity. People die, people go back to God. There is a millennium to work out all the kinks. There is no way that because we may be of the "last flesh born generation" of a 6000 yr plus "flesh age", that God would leave some in a flesh body while the other 6000 years of people are in their spiritual bodies for the millennium. God doesn't mix. God certainly isn't going to put souls back into bodies that have decayed, rotted, or burnt, with a previous to that history of car crash, fire, blown up, sick to the point of death. God doesn't care about the flesh, He already repented of putting us in the flesh. He probably can't wait for it to be gone more than us. He doesn't even like mix linen and wool. He is in no way going to have flesh decaying bodies walking around. (talk about a great excuse for what ever). No all will be in incorruptible bodies for the millennium. It is about "spirit".

1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

I am not one to make Gods Word say something else. I have no doctrine to follow but Gods. When it reads "ALL", I take that as all. I am not going to go past "not ALL sleep, but we shall ALL be changed"

Doesn't state who is covered by "all" so "all" to me is "all". Simple.

Don't get me wrong, doesn't say ALL will receive immortality, just the bodies that are required by ALL for the Lords Day.

But that spirit is not without the "spiritual" body.

This is not addressing the state of the "soul", but the body. Nowhere is mentioned "only believers".

1 Corinthians 15:35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
1 Corinthians 15:36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die
1 Corinthians 15:37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain

1 Corinthians 15:38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.

1 Corinthians 15:39 All flesh is not the same flesh but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds."
1 Corinthians 15:40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
1 Corinthians 15:41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars for one star differeth from another star in glory.

1 Corinthians 15:42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption it is raised in incorruption
1 Corinthians 15:43 It is sown in dishonour it is raised in glory it is sown in weakness it is raised in power:
1 Corinthians 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

(No mention of mortality or immortality)

1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
1 Corinthians 15:46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural and afterward that which is spiritual.
1 Corinthians 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.
1 Corinthians 15:48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

1 Corinthians 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

(dead, lifeless, subject to death, mortal) (from mortal to immortal)
1 Corinthians 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption (the dead) and this mortal must put on immortality.(the overcomers)
1 Corinthians 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written
, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit (quicken, made alive)

1 Peter 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison
(prison was in paradise) (richman could see Abraham) Would it be fair for God to judge Noah, different than us? You can't be dead and be preached to. You have either a flesh body or a spiritual body.

1 Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. (Christ went back to all who ever died)
1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ
1 Peter 3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
1 Peter 4:4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you
1 Peter 4:5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
1 Peter 4:6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

Philipians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Philipians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Philipians 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Philipians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Philipians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name

Philipians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth
Philipians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Matthew 10:26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
Matthew 10:27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

John 5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
John 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
John 5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. Pentecost

Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
2 Corinthians 5:11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men but we are made manifest unto God and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
