What we bind/loose on the Earth is bound/loosed in Heaven: what does it mean? How does it work? (Part 2)
To understand this, we need to take heed of the context wherein the two excerpts that assert this are inserted:

• “He said to them, But who do you say I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus answered and said to him, You are blessed, Simon, son of Jonah, for flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father in Heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give the keys of the kingdom of Heaven to you. And whatever you may bind on earth shall occur, having been bound in Heaven, and whatever you may loose on earth shall occur, having been loosed in Heaven.” (Mat 16:16-19).
Again, let’s analyze Matthew 16:
• Mat 16:1-4: the spiritual authority of Jesus is questioned by Pharisees and Sadducees;
• Mat 16:5-12: Jesus condemns the twisted teachings of Pharisees and Sadducees, which feed the soul with bad feelings and thoughts;
• Mat 6:14-15: Jesus questions the apostles about His identity before people;
• Mat 6:16-19: it is what we are meditating on;
• Mat 6:20-27: Jesus speaks about His mission and the importance of accepting it in our life, renouncing our self and welcoming His good, perfect and delightful will for us (Romans 12:2).
Abridging: Matthew 16 cope with the importance of accepting Jesus and His teachings as our lifestyle in order to guarantee the entrance in His kingdom.
Nonetheless, it comes the question: what would we answer if Jesus appears to us and asks: “But who do you say I am?”. By any chance would we procedure as Peter: confess Jesus’ identity and mission with accuracy, but refuse to make of it our drink and food (see John 4:34)?
As Jesus did with Peter, He wishes to bestow us the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Nevertheless, how can it be feasible while we insist on keeping the wrong idea about what is heaven? How can we bind someone to the kingdom of heaven if we persist on fantasizing the heaven?
Although the heaven is a paradise, the Way to receive it in our life is hard and the gate is narrow (Mat 7:13,14). Jesus want to construct His Church in us. Notwithstanding, the cornerstone is that He is the son of the living God which came to impart His life to open the Way to salvation for those who desire to follow His example (1Peter 2:21).
So, have a good day being bound to the true Jesus and His Kingdom and allowing Him to use your heart to pin His gospel to people around you and, thereby, bind those who believe to you and, obviously, to the Kingdom of Heaven (2Cor 3:1-3).
To be clearer: your heart is to be the Kingdom of Heaven (Mat 6:10) and the key that Jesus granted to you, which makes the binding, is He Himself.
