What Would You Do???

i have asked several people these questions and was surprised how honest they were, so here you go

question #1

1. you are broke and you notice the person in front of you dropped $20 and the wind blows it down the street and it lands at your feet. would you

a. quietly call out to them hoping they do not respond so you can pocket the money
b. call out to them loud enough to get their attention and give the money back
c. say lucky me. lucky me and slowly place your feet over the money , then act like you have to tie your shoes and pocket the money

question #2

your friend invites you out for lunch , and she /he has someone with them, you notice that they ordered the meal before you got there and has since eaten a lot of the food. when the waiter brings the bill, the friend looks through their wallet and says oh my goodness i left my money home, the same goes for the other person

would you:

a. pay the bill and tell them they have to pay you back
b. have the waiter give you a separate bill , pay yours and leave
c. play broke with them and wait them out until they pay up

feel free to add a What Would You Do question
i look forward to you answers. please answer both questions

Thanks

Question 1 - B) Call out to them loud enough to get their attention and give the money back.

No matter how badly the money would be needed, it wouldn't be right to take that $20 if you know who it belongs to.

Question 2 - A) Pay the bill and tell them they have to pay me back.

Ok, so this scenario sort of depends on the friend. If I know that he/she is good at paying me back when I cover their bill, then I don't mind paying and having them pay me back later. But, if they do not have a good track record with paying me back, I'd probably go with C and see what happens.

1. B) You have to give them the money back!

2. A) I've done this many times.

There was a time when I would have kept the $20 without batting an eye. But since coming to the Lord, no. Last year I was at the grocery store, paid cash and the clerk gave me my change. While bagging my groceries I realized my change should have been just that, change - coin. Not $8 and coin. I gave it back to the clerk, let her know and she was very grateful I did so. And while it was only $8, I could have used it.

-It has happened to me a couple of times and have always opted for 'B' (though I wasn't exactly broke when it had happened but either way, I shall always go with 'B'). There were other times where I have been in a situation like the shopkeeper would return more change than required (obviously by mistake) but I have always made it a point to give back the exceed amount. I wouldn't be at peace to just walk away with the money.

Since you have given only three options here, I probably would go with 'A'.

However, if given a choice, I would pay the bill and not ask them to pay me back.

Reason being that they are my friends and in the culture that I am brought up, we don't split bills between friends/family/relatives. Its either me or xyz that pays the bill for all of us or if the group is bigger than five, then two or three from the group pays the bill for everyone else. Splitting bill (like 50/50) between said party is considered quite embarrassing (and no, nobody takes advantage of each other on account of this). That being said, we learnt to adapt when we mixed with people from other community/culture/state.

Hey,
Thats a nice one. Lol! Well, my answers are:
1) B
2) A
Just wanna add one more.
1) A man comes up to you from the midst of nowhere and slaps you on one cheek.
A) Slap the man on the same cheek
B) Slap the man on the other cheek
C) Slap him on both cheeks
D) You slap me, now I kick you!
Honestly, I would choose B ... Just that the slap would be more like an uppercut to his jaw. Ow!

hello destinyinjesus86,
i like your wwyd question. hmmmmm...i would probably go with b just as you described

Well, if i saw who it was, and knew it was theirs, i would give it back to them. If i just found a 20 on the street and didn't know where it came from i'd snatch it up and pocket it haha.

I've never been in such a situation, and the way i operate with friends its not likely it would ever happen. If it were just my friend, i'd pay, and if i didn't need the money back i wouldn't expect to be paid back. But if it included a stranger who was with my friend, that would be different. It may depend on what i thought of the 'other person'. But i'm picky about friends and likely if it happened it would not be suspicious. Though if i had to pay for two i may expect them both to pay me back.
