I understand. I agree there are "fleshly" things done but I would not throw the baby out with the dirty water.
I have heard many stories from devout men that believed the exact opposite and then they too encountered the presence of God and they were down.
Just because the falling down isn't mentioned all the time in scripture doesn't mean it didn't occur from time to time..as we have seen it does occur in Jesus and in Paul and in John. I wouldn't be so quick to throw things out because I haven't experienced it or because some people were "faking it" because of emotion.
As far as the people just falling themselves or some person trying to push them down...the Lord will have them grow up eventually...lol
I too have seen people pushed over. But I have also seen many swept off their feet
by the power of God.
For example we were praying for a couple who were to be married shortly. No one was
touching them, one man said from now on when one experiences the power of God, so will
the other.
They were not even touching each other but suddenly they both fell in complete
sychrony like a stone statutes backwards both hitting the ground at precisely the same
time! They could not have faked that if they had tried. The Holy Spirit just swept
them both of their feet.
When they eventually got up there wasn't a mark on them, no sore backs, heads
etc.
