This may not count, but right now I'm reading Focus on Pharmacology: Essentials For Health Professionals. It's a little dry, and honestly, a little unnerving.

If not us, who? by Robert Fisk

It is a biography of the one and only William A. Rusher who happens to be my avatar.

On the fiction front of things, I have picked up Robert Ludlums The Road to Gandolfo.

Have you seen Dr. Strangelove? Have you read Tom Clancy's Red Rabbit? Well, this is something with a little of both: an American war hero attempts to ransom the Pope for a dollar for every Catholic on planet earth, and of course the Pope in question goes along with the plot.

It's really funny. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the Bourne series of books, but this? This is one that I'll hand down to my teenage children someday.

Gone are the days when the physicians would cure you simply by way of bleeding. :P

Short derail...

I once saw this super cool doc-drama called Victorian Pharmacy. On the show they re-made the 'medicine recipes' that they used back then to try to treat people's aliments. They had volunteers come in with certain ailments to test the treatments out. Some of the recipes they couldn't use cus they contained opium and other narc's. But they tried blood-letting and used leeches.

There was this one they tried that was suppose to cure a bruise, they recipe consisted of grounded up worms and a variety of other ingrediants. So they mash up real worms into this paste and put it on the volunteers bruise and tell him to come back in a few days to see if the treatment actually worked. Well the bruise was still there when he got back and he wasn't too happy that he was walking around with worm paste on his arm lol. But when you think about it, usually a bruise begins to go away on its own within a few days, so back then, it was likely that they thought that the paste actually worked hahaha.

That sounds awesome! I love learning about old-fashioned medicine.

And the worm paste? That made my day.

That does sound interesting. We still use lots of old fashioned medications. For instance aspirin, vitamin C, cinnamon, witch hazel, honey, hydrogen peroxide (which your body produces), etc.

Worth derailing for. Worm paste aside, how many of these ye olde treatments worked?

'Don't Blame It All On Adam' and 'The Supernatural Ways of Royalty'

I need some fiction in my life soon though. :P

I just picked up and am starting to read The Imitation of Christ by 14th century monk, priest and writer, Thomas a Kempis. It has been the most translated devotional book in the world (after the Bible of course), there must be a reason why :)

Currently reading a fantasy book called Raven's Ladder by Jeffrey Overstreet. Unfortuately, it's taking me long to finish it because I've been so busy.

Currently, I'm reading through the Apocrypha for the first time (so far only Tobit and Judith) and I'm finishing some other books.

I'm going to recommend a little something for all you readers of Fantasy, and theology, and all that good stuff out there: Read Descent Into Hell by Charles Williams. Guaranteed to be the most amazing book you will ever read!

Just a little FYI too, Williams was a colleague of Lewis and Tolkien :)

Nice, Zao! Yes, I have all of Charles Williams novels on my To Read list. I hear some of them are rather creepy. :)

Recently finished The Black Corsair by Emilio Salgari

Planning on reading next...

Arnold Schwarzeneggars Total Recall
Growing up Bin Laden
Knight in the Tigers skin

This post... Lmbo. Its been a long time since I have read anything except the Bible.
