For a long time I accepted Jesus as my Savior, but not my Lord. I liked the fire insurance. But in my adolescent, selfish ways I wasn't about to relinquish control of my life to anyone or any ideal. But as God does often, He backed me into a corner where I was forced to see that I never had control of my own life, that my best decisions had made a mess of it. Humbling myself, I saw that I had to stop lying to myself and accept the truth, the same as everyone has to: I have no control. The rain falls on the just and the unjust. And as much as I'd like to at times, I can do nothing about the rain. But God can.

But now I see Christ as my Savior and my Lord. In my own perception, I liken him to the feudal lords of medieval times in that I honor and respect him, rely on him to protect me, provide for me. All I have is at his discretion. He is the one who is the intercessor to God on my behalf. (John 14:6). To know him is to know God (John 8:19)

He taught that the only truth is reliance on God. The birds rely on him for food. The flowers rely on him for beautiful clothing.
He is my source, everything else is just a channel He uses to supply for me. Try to look at everything in you're life supplied by God -- your possessions, your family, your friends, your talents, your abilities. Even this, God gave me the opportunity to share and you the opportunity to read it. And possibly, right when you needed to hear it.

Praise be to God and Christ, my Lord and Savoir!
