I was reading sum things on another post and sumone said that God wants us to hav him as our only master. But I've never really thought about him as a master. I've thought of him as more of like an older friend/older brother. Jw what other people c God as?

None of my friends or brothers have ever made such bold claims about how I ought to live, and so I see no way to be a friend of God's without also being obedient to him. You can have many friends, but only one master, because with two masters, at some point they are going to issue conflicting orders, and whichever orders you follow will show which one was really your master all along. Indeed, it's desirable to become friends with your master, but surely the worst way to do this is to tell him that he is not your master. In the same way, I can be friends with my father, but surely it would do the relationship no good to no longer regard him as my father, for then I've gained a friend, but lost a father, and a father is to you what no friend can ever be.

God is our LORD AND MASTER.........God is to be glorified, not lessened.......God is awesome.......wonderful............God deserves the most perfect respect we can give Him..........just saying.

God is everything to me.

He is my heavenly Father, my Savior, my Lord.

He is pure and unconditional love. He is my strength when I am weak. He is my comfort when I am sad. He is my peace when I am disturbed.

He deserves the utmost respect for all He has done for us and all that He will do for us in the future.

God is definitely a master (Matthew 6:24), a loving father (Matthew 7:11), a jealous God (Exodus 34:14). A good way to get a feel for God as a Master is to read Exodus and see God's dealings with Israel and how he taught them to treat him.

I too usually say He is my 'everything'. I also say He is the air I breathe because I remember when I accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour over my life, it felt like I was breathing for the very first time. (Not only that, but we need oxygen on a regular basis just to live, much like Jesus, and the Word of God). He is my Redeemer and King, He is a Father that corrects me, loves me, teaches me and holds me together in His arms. He is love, He is overwhelming.

I think my biggest revelation of God's nature is that He is a loving and merciful Father. I always thought that God was more of a dictator. Whenever the Holy Spirit convicted me of a certain area of my life, I always anticipated a huge hand to come down and personally discipline me. I thought that if I slightly step out of His will, He would give up on me and take His love, protection and blessings from me. Every time I anticipated immediate disciplinary action, He would catch me off guard and instead extend love and kindness. Every time He did this, I couldn't help but be drawn to Him and turn away from the stupid things I was doing.

God is my Healer. He digs deep and shines the light on old wounds and asks me to surrender them to Him. He is my source of life that food or water cannot satisfy. He is my Mighty Protector that goes forth and orchestrates the victory before the battle even starts. Sometimes after praying, I might talk to the Lord as a friend. He's so much more than this, but I am tired and procrastinating... so that's my 2c worth.

LOL!! but He created you. I believe He deserve a lot more attention.:)

For a long time I accepted Jesus as my Savior, but not my Lord. I liked the fire insurance. But in my adolescent, selfish ways I wasn't about to relinquish control of my life to anyone or any ideal. But as God does often, He backed me into a corner where I was forced to see that I never had control of my own life, that my best decisions had made a mess of it. Humbling myself, I saw that I had to stop lying to myself and accept the truth, the same as everyone has to: I have no control. The rain falls on the just and the unjust. And as much as I'd like to at times, I can do nothing about the rain. But God can.

But now I see Christ as my Savior and my Lord. In my own perception, I liken him to the feudal lords of medieval times in that I honor and respect him, rely on him to protect me, provide for me. All I have is at his discretion. He is the one who is the intercessor to God on my behalf. (John 14:6). To know him is to know God (John 8:19)

He taught that the only truth is reliance on God. The birds rely on him for food. The flowers rely on him for beautiful clothing.
He is my source, everything else is just a channel He uses to supply for me. Try to look at everything in you're life supplied by God -- your possessions, your family, your friends, your talents, your abilities. Even this, God gave me the opportunity to share and you the opportunity to read it. And possibly, right when you needed to hear it.

Praise be to God and Christ, my Lord and Savoir!
