I think some of us tend to think that the grass is greener on the other side of the relationship status fence. But what's the one thing you'd miss from your single life, if you got married? :)

A buddy of mine got married about three years ago, and I asked him what he missed about being single. He said he didn't miss a thing.

Being able to share my most intimate thoughts with whoever I want. Whether she understands it or not, its what the wife is for.

Being able to make plans with anyone at any time. No more skydiving/skiing/snorkeling trips with the girl you grew up with. You've got a Spouse now.

Having the freedom over my own body to eat/drink/whatever/whenever. (smokey treats included) Carl's Jr? Nope.

No matter how good or bad the marriage goes, you will never fall in love again. No longer full of opportunity and wonder, meeting new people is just okay.

His or her taste in music will be stuck with you for the rest of your life, make peace with this fact quickly or go crazy. (I hate country)

I would miss my late night drives with just me and God and the serenity and peacefulness that only comes when everybody's asleep.

Another thing I would miss is doing whatever I want, when I want to do it and spending money on whatever I want. I can drive to the shore or to Las Vegas on a moment's notice and spend the weekend there if I feel like it. I can stay up all night playing video games or watching episodes of my favorite cable tv series too if I want to too. And I can go out and spend a chunk of dough on a new remote control airplane or helicopter or a new addition to my drumkit and not have to argue about it.

Good question. I have an idea about marriages, both good and bad. In a good one, most hints just hange for the better really...in bad ones, well, life can become quite miserable.

I suppose I could only answer this question if and when I got married, and had lived that life for a while (few years) vs. what I've always known.

I would think, though, that to have a healthy marriage, I would need to sacrifice several things, such as my tendencies to occasionally isolate from the world.

Being able to use all of the hot water whenever I want.
Not having to talk when I don't want to, especially if I marry one of those annoying morning people :D
Having all of the covers to myself.
Being able to stay up all night to finish a great book I don't want to put down.

Wow, well this is a hard question to answer since I consider myself to be a free spirit and do not like being tied down. When I became a teenager, the only thing I thought about was boys and dating them and whatnot. Buuut! As I got older and having so many terrible relationships, I started to pull away from that mentality and enjoy being single.
There are so many perks that come with it. You can hang out with anyone you want, without worrying about getting the approval of the person you're dating. You don't have to check in with anyone or be in at a certain time because your boyfriend will be waiting on you. You can have guy friends and not worry about what your boyfriend might think, and you don't have to worry about cheating because you're not with anyone.

That's the way I used to think anyway. Recently, I've found myself wanting to find someone who could be my friend, along with being in a relationship. Even though being single can be fun, when you find the right one, it doesn't matter any more and you don't want the things you used to. I know that sounds kinda cliche.

It's not about missing the things you could do while being single, but more so about incorporating those things you enjoyed into the relationship you have.

That's just my opinion... so.
There ya go.

Life would change, but I'm a rather versatile person who thankfully doesn't do very much or share very much beyond the inane with people I don't know. I have so much to share and so much to discuss. I just want to find someone to discuss things with. Someone who loves what I have to share and shares with me things I love, respect, and admire.

The dating game has never appealed to me. I suppose there is some excitement in knowing that each female I speak with could be "the one" (within certain parameters of course), but I just want to get past that stage. It's nigh impossible when you're a nomad though.

Oh yeah, I would miss being able to just completely uproot myself and move somewhere else to work without hours of debate. I would miss being able to work as many hours as I do...actually, let me rethink that...

Oh wait, what's that?

You say I spend too much time refuting earlier posts and not enough answering the OP?

I would miss being able to completely absorb myself in something. I would miss joking with my female co-workers without feeling guilty (I guilt easily that way). My car is a mess...actually I would like to change that anyway.

So you have a current post!

What I miss? Complete freedom to be selfish and irresponsible. After marriage any hurt and grief you bring upon yourself, also hurts another person. Of course the joy and goodness are also shared.

There is nothing going on in my life right now that really stands out as good that I couldn't share with someone I loved.

I guess I wouldn't know for sure until I was married.

making impulsive desicions, reckless behavior that only effects me and not worrying about my family. ^_^

Besides being right and having noone to tell me that I'm not :), I would also miss some of the things mentioned...like having to think about someone else when a friend asks me to hang out. Considering only my will when taking a major decision. Going out at night for a walk without telling anyone. Eating frozen food for lunch and having peanut butter and jam sandwiches for dinner because I don't wanna cook. Reading at 2-3am.

But after I give it some serious thought....I don't know if I would really miss these things. I want someone with whom I can share pretty much my whole soul so it is very reasonable that my decisions involve him all, or almost all of the time. And I wouldn't mind at all because that's what I want :) .

Unless we had a massive bedroom, my wife would probably force me to move some of my books elsewhere in the house... :-O

I would probably miss my ability to travel as much as I do now, and my space. I like being able to just pick up and go now, and being married that would not be as easy.
