A few people have died from heat here and there was an elderly complex of apartments where a fire started and 9 elderly people died.

The weather in this region is very unpredictable and changes rapidly from one extreme to another in the course of 1 day sometimes.
For example, from flooding we're now back to extreme heat.

All of these rapid changes can put a toll on the body and as a consequence all my bones hurt from the pressure change.
However despite all this, i'm happy with God who is my comforter and joy.

I'm up here in Canada, but really just across the lake from you. We received a reprieve today from this heatwave we've been experiencing, I'm sitting around 75 now, and extremely happy about it! As you know, this is quite the stark change from the 110+ degree (with humidity) we've been seeing for the past month. My poor central air unit is about to croak, and really needed the break.

The power went out twice in the eastern and western region of Mass due to heavy use of AC units. National Grid was on standby and they restored it in 2 hours but it went out. Twice! Maybe it will go out again, who knows.
The air outside is actually unbreathable due to humidity and heat and all the elderly are advised to stay indoors and have water with them.
Thankfully my AC units are brand new, about 7 years old and they are Central AC units for the whole house. Without them, we'd be in the frying pan with this humidity and heat.

Luckily, we've only had "brown outs" so far in my area. I've also turned off the AC at night, if we've had the cooler temps.

P.S. Sorry about the smoky weather to add on top of it all, I'm not in the western part of the county, but apologetic nonetheless. I am Canadian after all.

In the middle of our afternoon thunderstorm. It's finally getting to us. For the past week it has blessed all my neighbors. Today it's our turn.

was 97 yesterday. I think ive figured out the f to c thing. im a little slow so didnt dawn on me the 9 to 5 ratio until i played with it. starts out 5 f -15 c. add 9 to f equals add 5 to c. 14f -10c, 23f -5c, 32f 0c, 41f 5c, etc

so. using this i can find stuff with my own little method. what is 48 degrees f in Celsius? 41f equals 5c. it takes 7 to reach 48 from 41. so how much does it take to reach c from 5? cross multiply 7/x, 9/5 and you get 3.88. 5 plus 3.88 is 8.88 degrees celsius.
