When coping with people, do you remember of the covenant that should have between the brothers in the Church?
• Pro 16:20 -> “He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.”.
In the Church of Corinthians, it was missing the capacity of handling a matter wisely:
• 1Co 6:1-7 -> “Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?”.
They were forgetting, first of all, that they were brothers in Christ, that is to say:
• 1Co 12:26 -> “And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.”.
The same thing occurred in the time of Amos in regard with Tyrus:
• Amo 1:9,10 -> “Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant: but I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof. ”.
Although they made the same mistake than the Philistines (Amos 1:6-8), Tyrus wasn’t so odious than Philistia. So much so that, at this time, only the palaces of Tyrus would be destroyed.
Nevertheless, this destruction could be avoided if they had recollected of the alliance between Israel and Esau. They had ken to be spared of this destruction, but they didn’t keep the teachings of the Creator in mind.
Many problems can be prevented in our life if we dealt with the problems recalling who we are in Christ and for what people were put around us (to be saved by Christ through us and vice-versa), certainly our stance would be very different.
So, have a good day coping with people pursuant to the alliance which Christ made with you, to wit, in His body, wherein we are members one another (1Cor 12:27). Don't give it away, let no one give it to your enemies. After all:
• Mat 18:18-20 -> “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”.
