Why am i like this? :(((( like i need the Bible in my temptaions but when i am not dealing with anything I dont know what to read or want to read :( what is wrong with me

Sometimes just picking your Bible up and open and read.. a Blessing of Truth is there always.
 
Absolutely nothing I expect most of us have been there early in our Christian walk.

The thing to do is to set aside a fixed time every day that belongs to Jesus. I suggest 30 minutes. 20 minutes reading His word and 10 minutes in prayer for correct understanding. the prayer time and reading time can be separate or mixed. It is always fine to go over 30 min but you should not do less. This is not a legalistic requirement it is a suggestion for developing a good habit.

If an emergency comes up it is fine to delay Jesus' time but don't skip it.

Try to imagine what its like.... if ....someone that you really cared for..... only came to see you when they needed something from you. They only came to you ...if they needed money, or advice. And then they said "Thanks!" .... and left again.... and you dont see them again until they needed something from you again.

Would it hurt your feelings ... because they don't really want to ...get to know you more? They only come to you when they needed something....and then left again?

Maybe its an idea to want to read, just to learn about Him ​as a person more. You might find it more rewarding/satisfying than you realize ^^
 
5 minutes a day | If you’re not currently reading the Bible, start with 5 minutes a day. This reading plan will take you through all 260 chapters of the New Testament, one chapter per day. The gospels are read throughout the year to keep the story of Jesus fresh all year.

5 days a week | Determine a time and location to spend 5 minutes a day for 5 days a week. It is best to have a consistent time and a quiet place where you can regularly meet with the Lord.

5 ways to dig deeper | We must pause in our reading to dig into the Bible. Below are 5 different ways to dig deeper each day. These exercises will encourage meditation. I recommend trying a single idea for a week to find what works best for you. Remember to keep a pen and paper ready to capture God’s insights.

1). Underline or highlight key words or phrases in the Bible passage. Use a pen or highlighter to mark new discoveries from the text. Periodically review your markings to see what God is teaching you.

2). Put it into your own words. Read the passage or verse slowly, then rewrite each phrase or sentence using your own words.

3).Ask and answer some questions. Questions unlock new discoveries and meanings. Ask questions about the passage using these words: who, what, why, when, where, or how. Jot down some thoughts on how you would answer these questions.

Capture the big idea. God’s Word communicates big ideas. Periodically ask, What’s the big idea in this sentence, paragraph, or chapter?

Personalize the meaning. When God speaks to us through the Scriptures, we must respond. A helpful habit is personalizing the Bible through application. Ask: How could my life be different today as I respond to what I’m reading?

This is a simple plan of action, but it works. Start in "John" would be my suggestion.

Yes, but as a precaution, there is a difference between disentanglement for our own soul's sake and disentanglement for God's sake. We are apt to think only being disentangled from the things which would ensnare us. We give up this and that, not for Jesus Christ's sake, but for our own development. A follower of Christ has to disentangle himself from many things that would advantage and develop him but which would turn him aside from being broken bread and poured out wine in his Lord's hands.

We are not here to develop our own spiritual life, but to be broken for Jesus Christ's sake. Thus, it is not so much what you want to learn, it is about where best you can start to discern His will. That is why disciples need training too. We all need to know how to help brethren who are yet babes in Christ. To help them in this training as we were helped by others and by God Himself in knowing how to place ourselves in His Word and prayer. How to witness and to share fellowship in Christ's Church.

But how does a "babe" comprehend what that all means?

How does a "child" pick up a bible an make sense of any of it? It is no easy feat if one were a beginner.

You really need to be able to understand/identify metaphors/parables ....to Truly grasp any of it at all.

Also, give no place to the evil one!--Eph.4:27.

If you get so busy quoting Scripture and praising the Lord and rebuking the Devil, you won't have so much time to think about your displacement of mind. "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee because he trusteth in Thee." (Isa.26:3)

If your mind is centered on the Lord and stayed on Him then He is the One you are thinking about and you can't think about both things at once. Yes, God is even practical in Spiritual Warfare.


So keep thinking about the Lord and praising the Lord and quoting Scriptures and praying out loud. That takes concentration, you have to think about it, you have to keep your mind on the Lord and your mind on the Scripture and on your praises, even sing! The Devil hates song because it's praise to the Lord!! You've just got to keep at it, really WORK at it! It's a testimony even to the Lord that you are really trusting Him, that you really have faith in His Word.

I will also pray for you, and I will rebuke Satan in His name as well... remember, if God is for us who can be against us?

No don't stay out of it! Get into it ... Smile. You are right we all need help in the beginning and even along the way don't we? This is why Scripture shows us the need to parent people and disciple them. It is also the Spirit of God which has enlivened our spirit which can be directly met by us to God and God to us. We can also use sober judgement in with those who have been given God's truth in word thru commentaries and different cross scripture references etc etc. There are many helpful means we can offer people that will help them gain a sober and strong foundation in their lives thru His Word and prayer. I actually would invite you to share any insights in this regard. How has God helped you to discern His will? Have you found someone who is more mature than yourself to help you along the way in fellowship and training?

This was Jesus' call: that their are many to harvest yet, there are few workers that are willing to sacrifice their lives for others, this is not just to save people but to live in the trenches of everyday life and sacrificial living for His name sake. As a child we need to understand as workers to give more encouraging statements and give them more help, then as they grow and mature to let them take the reigns for themselves. We must go alongside people, not just give out an inspiring post script and walk away feeling as if you have empowered them. Yes, young Christians need our help. So, I must say yes to that, and get trained in how to do that well.
 
One way to make it a more interesting read... is to remember that pretty much Everything that you read in the bible...has more than one meaning.

Its a good way to learn to dig "deeper"....and grasp the True meaning of what you are reading at the time.

I personally found.... that you can find a lot of those deeper meanings... if you reflect back on your "own" life, up to the current point in time .

It can teach you to unravel metaphors/parables a lot easier... making you a deeper thinker in All things in general as well ^^

Actually, children understand the Bible easier than adults. And children and adults only understand it through one means anyway -- God. And Jesus taught in parables exactly for that reason -- so his people, (no matter their age), would know what he was saying, but no one else will.

Personally, I think it's easier for a babe in Christ, (and JSB never said if she was or wasn't a babe in Christ), to understand then those of us who have been believers for a long time. Nowadays, I find myself throwing out a lot of teaching I've read or heard through the years just to get back to what God really said.

Whoa! No! Not a good plan. Not true. The Bible means what it says. I does not have "more than one meaning." Thinking it does is a good way of becoming a seed on rocky soil.

The Bible is a book about God. Keep focusing on him, instead of whatever you feel like focusing on, and it does teach us about him.
 
[for me anyway] all of the Word of God "pertains to life and godliness which is the knowledge of Him" and His will, seeing that we which believe are to have already denied our own will, that we may submit to His: otherwise we would be double-minded, and we know that "a double minded person is unstable in all their ways." As for what to read from scripture, we must pray to God for His Spirit to guide us into all Truth: as for purpose, we know that faith comes only by hearing the Word of God, therefore when we lack faith, the we must more abundantly hear His Word.
