Readers of the gospels are by a The short passage at Matthew 27:50-53, which comes just after the description of Jesus' death on the cross has often puzzled many for centuries . Scholars have looked for reports of this resurrection in other ancient writings, but no definite references to it have been found.

The passage reads as follows:

Matthew 27:50-53,

50
Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

Sorry for the grammatical error the passage should read

Is this the "24 elders" you think?

Guys like Mosheh, Enoch, and Yliyah (Elijah)?

‘Many Bodies of the Holy Ones Were Raised Up’
“THE earth quaked, and the rock-masses were split. And the memorial tombs were opened and many bodies of the holy ones that had fallen asleep were raised up, (and persons, coming out from among the memorial tombs after his being raised up, entered into the holy city,) and they became visible to many people.” (Matthew 27:51-53) Catholic scholar Karl Staab calls this event that occurred at Jesus’ death “most mysterious.” What happened?
Epiphanius and other early Church Fathers taught that the holy ones literally came to life and went with the resurrected Jesus to heaven. Augustine, Theophylactus, and Zigabenus believed that these dead ones received a temporary resurrection but later returned to their tombs. The latter opinion, however, “did not gain wide recognition,” comments scholar Erich Fascher. When rendering Matthew 27:52, 53, many modern Bible translations give the impression that a resurrection took place.
First, whoever “the holy ones” were, Matthew did not say they were raised up. He said their bodies, or corpses, were. Second, he did not say these bodies came to life. He said they were raised up, and the Greek verb e·gei′ro, meaning to “raise up,” does not always refer to a resurrection. It can, among other things, also mean to “lift out” from a pit or to “get up” from the ground. (Matthew 12:11; 17:7; Luke 1:69) The upheaval at Jesus’ death opened tombs, tossing lifeless bodies into the open. Such occurrences during earthquakes were reported in the second century C.E. by Greek writer Aelius Aristides and more recently, in 1962, in Colombia.
This view of the event harmonizes with Bible teachings. In 1 Corinthians chapter 15, the apostle Paul gives convincing proof of the resurrection, but he completely ignores Matthew 27:52, 53. So do all other Bible writers. (Acts 2:32, 34) The corpses raised up at Jesus’ death could not have come to life in the way Epiphanius thought, for on the third day thereafter, Jesus became “the firstborn from the dead.” (Colossians 1:18) Anointed Christians, also called “holy ones,” were promised a share in the first resurrection during Christ’s presence, not in the first century.—1 Thessalonians 3:13; 4:14-17.

The Word doesn't say all it says is the "bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised"

the only thing i can think of is that by saints He is referring to those who had faith in God and died.
but without anything further to go on from the Word of God it is all speculation

It was time for God to come back to judge the people, and it says that the dead shall rise and it shall be darkness all over the earth. But Jesus had came to be the sacrificial Lamb so that we can live. And God has accepted the sacrifice on the third day. Now Christ has appointed a more better teacher to teach us how to redeem ourselves.

Hebrews 11:4
By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

Hebrews 12:24
to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

That is an excellent question. You would think somebody, anyone, somewhere in history besides this one man named Matthew would have recorded such an incredible miraculous event. How long did they live afterwards, what were their names, what did they do for a living? What did their loved ones think or say about it? One would think that even those supposed resurrected people themselves would have communicated something to someone about their ordeal. But nothing history is absolutely silent.

weird huh?

seriously? do we really need to have historical proof to believe the Word of GOD?
Is our faith really that shallow?

dang you're quick I didn't even have a chance to edit. If I may be so bold, the only place I can quote the words of God are in Torah. The words of this phenomena are Matthew's

btw I am not shallow and neither is my faith

so wait He already came back and judged???

Yes, but He had mercy on the people like He had mercy on the people of Nineveh. But there is going to be a final day that He is going to make his final decision. He has been having to much compassion lately.

Jonah 4:11And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?”

Matthew 12:41
The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now something greater than Jonah is here.

so you do not consider any of the New Testament to be the Word of God?
Even when God says "this is my Son, in whom I AM well pleased."

it is strange but may i ask this? *i ask because i truly do not know* outside of the gospels in historical records does it talk about the disciples hiding the body of Christ?

I ask because after the resurrection it says that the pharisees or sadducees paid the roman soldiers to say that they had fallen asleep on watch and that while they were sleeping friends of Jesus came in the night and took His body away.

other then the bible i have no historical or otherwise evidence that this happened.

Did the people of Nineveh has seen the White Throne Also? Just imagine how Jonah had felt when nothing had happened.

Jonah 4:1 But to Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry. 2 He prayed to the Lord, “Isn’t this what I said, Lord, when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. 3 Now, Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.”

negative LT, I do not consider any of the NT to be words of God. I believe when He proclaimed His first born son He was speaking of Israel. Thus said Yehovah, "Israel is my son, my first born."

I have to ask why do you capitalize I AM? I am is a state of being which makes it a verb not a proper noun.
