I am so frustrated that I am crying. Now I admit that I get emotional too easily but I went to the BIBLE Study room for Bible study and sharing around the Word of God but the topic for over an hour had been going on before I got there and is probably going on now. It was a male dominated conversation about dating and had mockery of women and semi-crude references. No, it was not overtly crude or sexual and the sexist remarks I am sure would have been defended as being funny. But it was bordering on inappropriate. I asked for it to change, I participated in it and made reference to scripture to tilt it back a bit, I politely asked for a change and I got PMs from other women wanting a change. I asked a moderator to do something and he as well as one of the dominating speakers suggested that I come up w a topic. I posted a couple of scriptures and asked the others not on the mic to comment but we could not get a word in edgewise. This is not right and I shouldn't have let this chase me out but this wasn't edifying me or the body of Christ. It was rude and should have been taken to the Lounge. It could have been a Bible study about male and female roles and marriage but no one posted a single scripture or even referenced one and all sorts of "I think" comments were made instead. One person said I should leave and research the scriptures when I apologized about my scriptural ignorance (I can quote verses but can't remember chapters and verses without a concordance.). SO I guess my suggestion is for moderators to take more authority AND for a concordance tool on the Bible page. Thank you,

Even though the Lounge is more casual, this goes on all the time. Thats one reason i stop going into chats as often, i got tired of the inappropriate comments and conversations taking place so often. Including some mods.

A few things.

All suggestions are welcome.

Some may get the impression that we had some swanky chat going on in there. We didn't. There was nothing inappropriate said.

There was one person I was aware of wanting a change of topic.

The rest were content with the topic.

I suggested said person bring up a topic.

Others didn't follow suit.

Yes a mod could have 'taken authority' and changed it.Since a majority of those in the room were fine with the topic, a 'taking of authority' may have lead to threads in here about 'power hungry mods' changing a perfectly clean conversation that everyone wanted.

We can't make everyone on CC happy.

Moderating is tough stuff. Tough decisions. Many decisions over total no-win situations. Such as this one.
I ask that folks give us mods the benefit of the doubt if something happens that doesn't make you 100% satisfied with CC. We volunteer hours a week, so you have a place to chat. You folks will not be happy with every decision we make. Please at least give us the benefit of the doubt. We try our best.

Again, suggestions are welcome, but I felt this needed some addressing, because some may have gotten some wrong impressions of the situation. Said wrong impressions weren't intended by the OP or responders. But they may have been interpreted that way.

Two days ago, I was in the prayer room praying with the person that was there. After we prayed, we started sharing about how privileged we were that we grew up with not only our parents but also our grandparents. One male pm me and we started chatting, it did not take me long to know that this person is in need to God's love and mercy. With God's guidance, he was able to get helped and encouraged to strive to live a holy life.

What I have experienced so far on this side is that it is unavoidable for us to come across people with varying degrees of faith and commitment to abide in God's word. Some will certainly believe they are born again christian but really they are lost. It is our responsibility with God's wisdom and guidance to redirect them to God's word and help guide them so that they too will eventually have a personal relationship with God.

When I go to the Chat rooms, I often find the topic of discussion is not to my interest so I simply leave and spend sometime in the forum area.

It will help if we every opportunity we have to pray and uphold the administrators on this side so that they will have the wisdom and that God will equip them with all that they need to be able to perform their roles as administrators for God glory. I know that being an administrator is not easy.

We have many rooms to choose from: Why not simply make a rule saying bible study is only acceptable topic in bible study room ?
If people feel that is too harsh, they just don't like rules, as they have several other rooms to chat freely in. It should be obvious for them to respect that room.

The rooms are already like that. If someone comes in a room looking for the topic of that room, the people there are expected to follow to that subject (prayer, edification, etc). But i think as long as there is no one seeking those particular things the rooms are ok to chat it. Don't know if thats the official rules, but seems to be how its ran.
