I recently became a facebook friend with a guy who was the brother of a guy i knew from Sunday School and church Youth Group. The brother came once or twice, so when i got a friend request from him i was like sure, why not. After he became fb friends with me, i started seeing some things on his wall about how he was in a relationship with a guy. I was like ummmmmm, but i tried to ignore it. Then yesteday i was randomly looking at my home page (you know, where you see all your friend's recent posts) and he had posted this picture that was like ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww something you don't really want to see guys and girls doing, but he was doing it with another guy. I felt sick. But i don't know this guy personally and the picture isn't something that facebook prohibits, so what can i do? I want to help him, but how?

Thats a hard one, personally I would not want that showing on my own facebook page. I don't know if on facebook if you can stay friends but block out his pics? I'm not sure. and if you don't really know him personally you could always remove him from your list?

Well it seems to me your choice is to either reach out and make an effort to actually become a friend and then try and help him when you have established that friendship......or simply delete him from your friends list on facebook to avoid exposure to things you don't want to see.

As a 'facebook friend' you can't do much for him so take a step forward or backward, you're in no man's land at the moment.

If you want to minister to him then you'd have to be around things you don't like. Otherwise, de-friend them and leave it to prayer.

You can choose to hide posts from someone yet still visit their page when you'd like to.

Don't bother trying to preach to him. If his posts are really bothering you that much, then either hide his posts or delete him. Though, the latter may hurt his feelings.

Oh....I added a friend on face book from high school and I did not realize he was like gay gay...I mean like girl looking male friends and all of that. I felt bad but as soon as I looked through his photos I was like NOPE. I just automatically deleted him. Felt bad but, that is not something I can handle in my life right now or something I want my kids to be looking at. I bet him and other mutual friends think I am messed up, but unfortunately we are not anything like each other. I would have problems with female straight friends having revealing pics posted too. Plus I don't want notifications of some gay/trans event popping up in my view. I would rather feed my brain something more supportive to my already challenged walk.

You can't catch aids from them on facebook so dont worry. As you grow older you'll see many more gays in the real world around you.

Are you saying this person was trans or gay then? I'm confused.

Yeah, you have a larger chance of catching AIDS in the United States from African Americans men. They account for 48%, (over half of them heterosexual) so lets just assume that every African American male is infected, like how we assume everyone gay is infected.

Well his friends had drag on. I think he had a picture of him in there too. Pictures of him and other males at a gay parade doing odd things was what made me hit the panic(delete) button.

That sort of thing is just not christian. Even a non christian could see how an event like that may not be good exposure for their children or himself.

I think there are two sides this can be offensive to you, one of course being the personal side and the other is the christian side.

In truth I think the most important to you is the personal side, if his actions are harmful to your personal feelings then you are more than right to distance yourself from harm, if his actions (pictures in this sense) don't personally bother you but because you know they are wrong in a religious sense don't worry so much. No person will ever be perfect or without sin and there is no truer test to a person than to love others including their imperfections, perhaps he does not know the actions he does can bother some people as every one else has already become accepting of them, or perhaps he doesn't care.

From a christian perspective try not to take offense to it, I am not saying to be accepting of it but understand that people have walked different lives and where their paths have lead them do not matter so much as the fact that they can be found again. To god he is equally loved, if he cared he would be considerate of your own feelings should you tell him.

How can you help someone like that? Personally I believe that people have the choice to do what they want. Its their choice, and they are responsible before God. That is what true freedom is. If people want to be gay that is their choice.

So in theory this guy has the freedom to post dirty pictures, you also have the freedom not to look at them. Facebook has features where you can block people and their profiles.

What you should not try to do is, talk to him and tell him how wrong he is. You can't change his mind. Let him do what he wants. At the end of the day he is responsible for his actions before God, not you.

Agreed, but even when not before god his actions are still for him to be accountable for the reactions of the individuals in which they may harm.

For instance, some one who is vulgar in speech may push away those who find it offensive, their actions are accountable only by his own to begin with.

I think the issue of "dirty" pictures in this case was kissing. I had assumed so and will continue until clarified.

woah woah woah woah WOAAAAH!!!! Am I actually seeing some of the things I'm reading on here or am I just thinking them up? I'd like to say that I'm thinking them up.....but I'm not! "Don't bother trying to preach to him" why not? He needs Jesus! I really like someone whos either bi or gay....when I found out in November I didn't turn around and think or say "there's no point!" there is a point! I care about him so much! I care if he gets to heaven or not! Yes I've cried about it loads....I'm not angry at him, I would never judge him and I'd never give up on him..........P.U.S.H. = Pray Until Something Happens......simples!!! :)
