Where Is Muhammad Ali Now?

I don't see this 'second chance' stuff in Scripture. It takes the air out of the urgency to get out the Gospel..."Hey, why share the Gospel, God will do a better job of it when the person is passing through the portal". Totally with out Scriptural warrant, a pagan pipe dream.

True we don't know if he had a death bed conversion but let's at least not fool ourselves, those dying without Christ will perish eternally.
 
This post and the comments remind me of my father. He was a minor sports celebrity and personality in the city where I grew up. People knew him as fun, irreverent and certainly not a Christian.

But in the last 5 months he lived, my husband and I led him to the Lord. I spent every day with him as he slowly faded, praying with him, reading the Bible, singing worship songs and even reciting Scripture he had learned as a child 70-75 years earlier. When I was not there, he spent his time witnessing to the staff and other patients.

Not one of his friends would have known he was a Christian. Some probably judged him and said he was in hell. But God knew better. I wrote the memorial and I included his testimony, his favourite passage about the parable of the sower, and used it to invite people to Christ. That was the least I could do! And the real celebration of his life is that he will be spending eternity with Christ.

I do agree that if Ail did not come into a saving knowledge of Christ, he is not going to be with him in eternity. But who knows if there was some faithful nurse, or servant, who took the time to sit down, explain the gospel, pray with Ali, and lead him to Christ. And who knows that those seeds weren't planted back in his childhood, before he converted to Islam.

I think what we need to take away from this thread, is that we do need to be sharing the gospel with the lost. We need to live out Christ before our families and friends, and be bold when the Spirit urges us, to point people to their need for Christ both now, and in eternity.

was it not also said about the Beatles and were they also not brainwashed/radicalised away from Christianity - wincam
 
Simple.

If he remained a muslim up until the moment of death - he is in Hades.

If he placed his faith in Christ before the moment of death - he is in heaven.

It's never a big mystery.

Mmmm maybe...maybe not. The Bible isn't as SUPER specific as people here on CC try to play it out to be.
 
I think he is in Hades (the "unseen place"... simply, the grave) just as Abraham, The Rich man and Lazarus were in that parable Jesus told concerning the Jews not getting the reward they had hoped for.

Why shouldn't it be our business? If someone asks us why we think Ali isn't in heaven, we can use him as an example as to why Jesus is the only way to heaven.

There are far too many people who believe that many celebrities who died are in heaven simply because they were "good" people.

It's not our business because we simply cannot know. It's not our place to pass judgment on the deceased. That is God's job.

If someone were to ask me if I thought Ali was in heaven or hell, I'd simply say that I don't know. That answer opens the door for me to say something about how I DO know that I'm going to heaven.

I have yet to see a concrete Bible passage about how death from this life is the cutoff line of being able to have faith in Jesus or not. That's why I don't ascribe to the Catholic belief of Suicide=automatic ticket to Hell. We just don't really know what happens to us after we die.

That's just where I'm at on the idea.

I think he would still just be in the "grave" (whatever that really is) like everyone else... waiting to be raised for the judgement.

How could I possibly know that for sure? I can't. I'm not going there -- ever! I will never say for certain that anyone is not saved because I can't possibly know that.

What was the criteria used for judging the sheep from the goats? Were they asked what religion they were?
 
Well he didn't die a martyrs death so he missed out on the 72 virgins.
