Wherein phase of the evangelism are you?
The evangelism can be divided in five phases.
The FIRST phase of the evangelism started when Jesus shew the nearness of the kingdom of the Creator (Matthew 4:23; Mark 1:14-15):
• Mat 10:5-7 -> “These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ ”.
Considering that those people were being very oppressed by the roman empire and the religious leaders, the coming of a kingdom of justice, truth, honor, peace and love was something inconceivable. Today, amidst the greedy, injustice, selfishness, violence, etc., to live this kingdom inside us (free from experiencing and being quelled by evil thoughts and feelings) is stupendous.
In the SECOND phase of the evangelism comes the promise of the forgiveness of the sins and the presence of the Holy Spirit inhabiting inside us:
• Luk 24:46-49 -> “and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.””.
The forgiveness of sins implies in peace of spirit, the liberty of cultivating maliciousness against those who seems suspicious to us (judging them) and, chiefly, against those who made of themselves our enemies.
In the THIRD phase of the evangelism the person passes to be dwelling place of the Holy Spirit and acquire the capacity of remit or retains sins:
• Joh 20:21-23 -> “Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.””.
Until this, the person is slave of the sin, without any ability of changing lives (including theirs).
It’s marvelous to know that we can be used to transform lives, free them of the serfdom of their sins.
In the FOURTH phase the evangelism isn’t more only to witness passively (seeing and hearing what Jesus is operating, as in the phase two), but to enjoy the privilege of being a living testimony, suffusing the gospel all around the world:
• Mat 28:19,20 -> “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””.
In the FIFTH phase of the evangelism, the person counts with the promise of walking in a supernatural way:
• Mar 16:15-18 -> “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.””.
• Act 1:8 -> “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”.
It is tremendous to make difference wherever we go, walking so beyond our heights, limitations (Hab 3:17-19), without any physical handicap to preclude us from saving lives.
So, have a promising day living as an ambassador of Christ:
• 2Co 5:18-21 -> “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”.
