Which bible character do you like & why?

I like Joseph because it spoke to me a lot about what happened to him.

He was hated by his brothers. They sold him to Midian merchants and the Midianites sold him to Potiphar. He was accused of trying to sleep with
Potiphar’s wife and was thrown in jail.
He was accused for something he did not do because he honored God and would not commit adultery and for that
he paid the price of going to jail for 13 years.

While in jail, the Lord granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. Joseph was put in charge of all those held in prison and
the warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care.

God gave him the gift to interpret dreams and after interpreting Pharaoh’s dream, Pharaoh found him to be a wise and discerning man
and put him in charge of the entire land of Egypt. Pharaoh made him governor of the land.

Pharaoh gave him a woman to marry and they had 2 sons.
Joseph names his firstborn Manasseh and said “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household”.
The second son he named Ephraim and said “it is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.

He was eventually reunited with his family. “His brothers then came and them themselves down before him. “We are your slaves,” they said.
But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish
what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:18-20

This story shows me how Joseph went through sufferings and that God was still with him and wherever he went, God blessed him and
he honored God, in prison and out of prison. Joseph knew God was doing His will.
When I go through trial and suffering, I recall what Joseph went through & how he came through it all with God on his side.

Wow I have told some of my friends how the life of Joseph was a lot like mine. I will explain why. First off he had a horrible and painful life, Just as i have. cancer is no joke and my abusive family despised me and starved me. Because of all of this i cannot do things most people can because of the brain damage. i have never had a good dad and my mom tends to give my sister what they need but not very much with me. Dont get me wrong i love her but like Josephs Father favoritism is not new to me. Joseph was taught he was different than everyone else and that he was meant to soar and be a great man of god. I cannot help but believe this is also what god plans for me. I am very different than anyone else But it is starting to become clear to me why i had to go through all that happened to me. I believe god wanted me to not be able to do much or go anywhere so i could grow very close to him as i spend most of my days and time with him. I asked myself one day what point in Josephs life am i in right now? I realized i am in where his father is teaching him and caring for him to get him ready for his true destiny. So i believe one day when god is done preparing me I will face a lot of heart ache. pain, saddness and lonelyness, however i also believ when this happens i will trust Jesus more than any suffering i obtain and he will turn it all into something beautiful. As a friend said tome i have found myself in the Bible i don't think it is a mere coincidence my life resembles so much of Joseph's

Jacob/Isreal

I get chills up and down my spine every single time I read about him wrestling the angel

Hi Blain
My turn to say wow! You sure have been through a lot. However we know that no matter
what we go through, Jesus our rock is always there for us to help us, to carry us, to nourish
us, to comfort us, to love us, teach us and to lift us up.
When we go through pain, loneliness and suffering, Jesus is teaching us to trust in him and
also this is where the testing of our faith is.
I've read through the story of Joseph a few times and I find it so amazing that he started off
just as a shepherd boy not liked by his brothers, then taken off to a distant country & into prison
and eventually the governor of Egypt. This is amazing because with God everything is possible.
The key to everything is obedience and submission to God.

Thank you for sharing. I pray God to strengthen you n every area of your life and that He will supply all your needs, physical, emotional and spiritual. In Jesus name, amen :)

Blain,
i dont know why but everytime I hear the word cancer I see an "eye"... This first appeared when my bible study teacher I had inky known a couple if weeks in a new church invited me to he and his wife's house for dinner... a few weeks after he found out he had prostrate cancer...this is when the eye appeared.... In it I saw Gods eye looking very distinctly out of it... Certain questions also came .. " do you see the cancer or do you see me? Are you going to hand all of it to me and know I am God, do you trust me, do you have confidence in me? who told you there was cancer? Who are you going to share your emotions with in this? as odd as this seemed to me , I immediately handed the diagnosis the reports, the words, and all my emotions in it to God... I reminded Him of his promises and I out every bit if my confidence in Him.... Bible teacher was healed .. Still free if cancer today ... Shortly after my mom had breast cancer... she has been healed....still cancer free today.. Then suddenly my dad was told he had a brain tumor ... Again an eye appeared .... in all of these cases the same eye appeared looking out at me in it.. As I read your words it appeared again... ... the same questions appearing out from it... I believe and have confidence in God over every report spoken to you, God is in control not the reports, not the doctors ... not the cancer.... Jesus is the authority in you ... nothing else ..

Wow it's amazing how god speaks to you:D As for the cancer I didn't do anything it was all the doctors and my mom and of course god. I am cured now But i beleive it was because i always kept a positive attitude. I amazed people with my high spirits in such a gruesome situation, They put me in the news and stuff But i didnt really care i for some reason was just so happy to be alive. As I said i am cured now but the effects of the cancer will according to the docters never go away. I obtain diebeties from a medicine for my cancer, major brain damage and my body is that of a fifteen year old. However i have comeplete faith one day soon god will cure me of all of this, I do not blame god for anything that happened, I instead am glad it happened so i may be different and spend all my time with god. plus i can help others who went through the same thing:) I am just so grateful god made me with the attitude to always look on the bright side. he could have made me to where i would become sour from it all or anger issues. Everything i am and all i desire is all from him so i cannot boast about anything i did.

Wow! This really touched my heart. Your life is a miracle and I commend your fervency for God. Sometimes God allows obstacles to come our way to strengthen our faith and they are the foundation for a better future. I believe God has great plans for life.
Jer 29:11- For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Rom 8:28- And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

The story of Joseph is filled with wisdom. You'd think he made a mistake by revealing his dream to his brothers but it was all God's sovereign plan. He was broken to be built, tested to be strengthened. He remained faithful to God even during difficulties; his life is an example of integrity.

I find a lot in common with a few bible characters. David, for one, is one of my hero's. He's a royal screw up but God called him a man after His own heart. He loved the Lord and served Him always even when He did some of the most heinous things.
The woman who washed Jesus' feet with her hair. She knew what kind of sacrifice it took. She had the greatest humility.
The woman at the well... well I have not had 5 husband, I do sometimes feel like her. But she was honored.

This thread is so amazing, When people tell who they are like from the bible it really makes me glad to read Them.

For me it is Andrew he brought the young boy with the fish and loafs of bread to Jesus,He brought His Own Brother eter to The Lord and the Greek Men Gentile's to The Lord,i like in my Heart Love of Others Bring Them Our Lord Jesus Christ Love whenever how ever i can allways amen-eth....!!!!!!!!!.....

I like David's character as well. It goes to show that even with the sins he committed God still used him.
We don't have to be perfect to be used. We just need to be obedient and to submit to God when He calls us to carry out something. :)

John the Baptist, because he got to baptise the Christ. Leave it to God to pick a bug-eatin' crazy man!

It was an honor and a privilege for John to have baptised Christ.
God can choose anyone to carry out his will especially when we look back at all the bible characters. :)

Blain you are an amazing man of God. I agree , it has absolutely nothing to do with anything we have done , are doing or will ever do that determines what happens.. It is all according to His plan and His will... Not our own... I also agree such trials bring us into a closer relationship with Him... Leaning on Him, yielding our strength to Him , our plans to Him, our ideas to Him, our life. So the outcomes bring glory to all His ways and to Him alone.. .. It is written: in our weakness He is made strong, rest in me, have confidence in what I can do not what man can do, Who is man that you pay him your mind? I am the Lord your God, there will be no Gods before Me. For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you never harm you, plans to bring you hope and an expected future. You are a planting of My Splendor , a display of My glory, I will never No never , leave you nor forsake you, No never will I !". it is in the trial my blessings come... put all your confidence in me , put all your hope in me , hand me all your emotions , put all your trust in me.. it is all about our relationship..... I am your heavenly Father and you are my son in whom I'm well pleased .... Blain, you are so loved by God! everything good He has already put in us... Your smile brings Godly comfort to those who can not
find theirs . Your kindness displays the glory of Gods grace "bending down" to those who do not know what his love has already done... your encouragement to others is a display of Gods encouragement to you.. You my brother are blessed ... not because of who you are but because of who you are becoming with Him in you... through you others will come to know Him better.. He is looking for a few good men... He's definitely found one :)
Peace in Christ

Twinkle- beautiful thread- I'd say it's golden , tightening the weave in who God is...

thank you so much, Your'e exactly right it is not because of who i am but who i strive to be. I want to be exactly like jesus, I know in my heart one day i will be just like him. As Jesus once said the son see's what the father does and wants to be just like him. And the father Gladly shows the son what he does because he love's him. Basicly this is for all of us, Those who strive to become like Jesus with all their hearts are like the son wanting to be like the father and god will surely satisfy them. I am blessed with the way god made me, all that i am all the caring and loving qualities i have i cannot boast about because it is god who gave them to me not because of anything i did. I am just lucky not to have anger issues or something and i am grateful to god for that.

It so awesome to find men and women of great faith even as we talk about great biblical characters.

@Blain,
I'm happy to find people like you who are so faithful to God despite all the odds. You are a shining example at such a young age.

@Powemm, I loved to your post. Truly, God is in control.

Talking about great Bible characters, I love Daniel.

He was taken captive at a young age of 16 (approx) and served God in Babylonian captivity till he was 80 years old,
when Babylon was overtaken by Cyrus and Darius of Persia.
What an example of faith and perseverance!

He was uncompromising, wise and bold.

I love the incident when he refused to eat choice meats and wine from the king's kitchen.
He rather ate vegetables and drank plain water,
and at the end of 10 days was found to be healthier than the other men who ate royal food.
Just shows reliance on God.

Then, I am amazed by the interpretation of the king's dream of the great statue. This interpretation is prophetic.

Other incidents that I am amazed by are the den of lions and the writing on the wall.

What a man, and what a book, Daniel!
