Who has been able to take hold of Jesus?
• “And there is no one who calls on Your name, who stirs up himself to take hold of You. For You have hidden Your face from us, and have melted us away because of our iniquities.” (Isa 64:7).
Are we in which group?
• In the group of those who stirs up themselves to call on Jesus’ name and take hold of Him or;
• In the group of those who can’t be able to see Jesus’ face, hear His voice and, obviously, have been melted away in their iniquities?
It isn’t in vain that Mary Magdalene was the first to see Jesus resurrected (Mark 16:9):
• “Jesus told her, "Don't hold on to me. I have not yet gone to the Father. But go to my brothers and sisters and tell them, 'I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'" (John 20:17).
Magdalene was so clung to Jesus that He had to tell her: “don’t hold on to me”. Magdalene’s desire is to stay with Jesus all the time. This only would be feasible when Jesus would arise to the Father and send the Comforter (the Holy Spirit – John 16:7).
This already took place! Nonetheless, who is sufficient wakeful to get delight in Jesus’ presence (Psalms 37:4) and, thus, to stay in prayer for hours (as we can see in Psalms 25:4,5; Daniel 10:3; Habakkuk 2:1,2)?
I can assure that He likes this. So much so that Jesus made a point of appear to Magdalene, even knowing that she would cling to Him. He could easily go away, but don’t did it. Rather, He preferred to make her figure out the importance of, at that moment, to preach the good news.
After all, during that forty days before the ascension, Jesus could be only in one place. If Jesus stayed with Magdalene, He couldn’t appear to the other women. And we can see how Jesus longed for manifest to them (while Magdalene was to announce the good news to the disciples, she reached the other women and Jesus appear to all of them – Matthew 28:9).
What about us? What is it encumbering us of receiving all His love for Him inside ourselves? – see 1John 4:19). We only can’t love Him so much because we are precluding His goodness and mercy, which are following us (Psalms 23.6), to reach us.
So, have a resplendent day don’t fearing be filled with Jesus’ love for Him. Although this means to love the enemies (Psalms 23:5), know for sure that your banquet is ready (Matthew 22:4). Don’t turn His calling down (Matthew 22:3)!!!
