Is the Lord Jesus your King? yes or no?
Did not the Romans put the sign on the cross, "King of the Jews"?
Now if you answered the first question honestly, and if you are a Christian, you answered "YES".
Well if Jesus is your king, and the sign on the cross reads "king of the Jews", who does that make you?
Answer, A JEW. it's as simple as that. Not a Jew by birth, but one of spiritual rebirth, born again spiritually, by adoption, one who
is born of God. John 1:10-12
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Nation Israel WAS elected to bring Christ into the world for everyone's salvation and also to teach us the things of God.
Romans 15:4
4For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.
and Paul speaks of Old Testament examples
1 Corinthians 10:11
11 Now all these things (OT examples, read verses prior for more context) happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. (NOTE
aul calls this age the last of the ages).
Jesus Christ was predestined "THE elect of God" to bring salvation to the world. Thus everyone who places their full trust in Jesus Christ becomes the elect of God through Jesus Christ. National Israel wasn't elected to bring salvation to the world, it was elected to be the anti-type of Jesus Christ.
As Hank Hanegraaff eloquently puts it, "Immanuel did what Israel could not. Israel succumbed to the wiles of the world, the flesh, and the devil during her desert sojourn, whereas Immanuel, true Israel, triumphed over every trial and temptation." in his book "Has God Spoken" page 137.
