I'm not an enthusiast, but I own a pocket watch that belonged to my paternal grandfather, who died probably 20 years before I was born. I was named after him, though.
I work with a guy who is originally from Egypt, and he buys and sells watches. All kinds, but mostly Rolexes, I think.

I am extremely fond of clocks. None of mine are set correctly. Accuracy does not matter, I like the ticking and the aesthetic look of clocks.
My mother bequeathed to me her father's pocket watch also. He was also deceased before I was born
I will look into the details of the watch when I get home, if I remember 
I am not named after him, but my daughter bears the maiden name of my maternal grandmother, and my middle name is the same as my paternal grandmother's 
None of my clocks are set to the right time, either

I love mantelpiece clocks and wall clocks
but I do have a preference for Roman 'numerals'
(they are actually letters of the Latin alphabet)
over our Arabic numerals.

I used to have a strong interest in watches and I always wanted a Movado with the single dot design.. I've owned a couple Swatch watches before but their gone now. I imagine they'd now be worth more than the $30 they were sold for... I also have a genuine US Navy Seals watch that my parents gave me years ago. It had these tritium(?) marks that glowed in the dark and were guaranteed not to go out for like 10 years. Its been much more than 10 years so they don't glow anymore... I also have a nice Swiss Army watch that used to be my dad's. My dad was into watches too. He had some nice ones but none that were real expensive. They're mine now, but I haven't properly gone through them...
The watch my mother gave me actually belonged to her mother, not her father. Both my maternal grandparents were deceased by the time I was born, so I never knew either of them. The watch is in a very worn purple velvet case. The watch face looks like this:
It came with a fairly long chain, also. The outer watch case
is quite ornate, and looks something like this:
Though much dingier
Dingy and worn like this
But a very ornate open heart design
She included a note to me about the watch, which says:
Magenta
This watch belonged to my mother (Mary ______ _______).
It does not run. Your twin brother has my father's watch.
I suppose that this watch belonged to her mother as I cannot
believe that my mother would ever have had the money to buy it.

Yes, I'm contributing to the demise of life-as-we-know-it, as well. I quit wearing a watch about 3 years ago. I kept banging them into stuff while I was working. Having to reach back into electrical cabinets and in-and-around framework of equipment is tough on watches.
Perhaps I should go back to a pocket watch... now that's an idea...
I have a pocket watch my daughter bought for me when she was in St Petersburg Russia. Did you know they tell time over there just like we do here?
