IV. THE CITY OF THE LORD IS NOT THE CHURCH

Isa 60:14 The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

Was Isaiah talking about the Church from the above verse?

Isa 60:15 Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.

We have established that the Church has not been forsaken nor it has been desolated, I think all will agree that the Church has never been hated as well. Without a doubt and with certainty Isaiah was not talking about the Church.

On the other hand, we have established that Jerusalem was indeed had been forsaken, desolated, it sure received the wrath of God and was hated.

Based on this, Isaiah 60 was talking about Jerusalem

It was also established that Jerusalem will have a new name and shall be married to her children (Isa 62:1-5) and now shall be called the City of the Lord.

Isaiah 60 vs Revelation 21 , the New Jerusalem, the City of God, the Bride.

Rev 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

According to the Book of Revelation

The name of the City of God is New Jerusalem (Rev 3:12)

This New Jerusalem is the Bride from Revelation 21
