It was named Babel because the LORD had confounded the language of all the earth. Nations could not understand eachother and thus were scattered abroad upon the face of the earth. Rome is but a daughter as well my friend.

Who is this Harlot? I have heard many people speak of this in a few threads lately. I thought it would be a good subject to talk about. Although it is not a salvic issue, and hope we do not get into arguments and hated fights.

Discussions are good. They help us learn. I promise to not turn this into an argument. I would however like to just point out a few things for you to consider. We can go through everything. You have made some good observations. This is a very intense study however. Basics have to be covered first. Please bare with me. I am speaking so plainly that a child can understand. This is for the benefit of everyone else reading, the young & people from other countries included. It has to be plain speech with no high words. It will take a few parts to cover. What we do know is the harlot is a powerful would influence. Very rich, Tends to side with the beast,

Explaination is right here. The meaning of the 7 mountains is explained in the very next verse. So simple.

So the harlot is sitting on Seven kings, but five are fallen (past, gone) Keep in mind that John was in the Roman Empire at the time of the vision. Again, so the five kingdoms that are fallen are history in Johns day, the one that IS must be the Roman Empire, and the other king (kingdom) that has not come is coming but will only rule for a short space.

So to find out who are these 5 kingdoms that have fallen we have to go to Daniel 2:32-35 to read about the image in King Nebs dream. We know that this is referring to the last days because;

Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven that reveals secrets, and makes known to the King Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in THE LATTER DAYS, Thy dream, and visions of thy head upon thy bed are these.

and if we read on in Daniel 2:38 the interpretation is given.

Daniel 2:38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts ofthe field and the fowls of the heaven has he given unto thine hand, and has made you ruler over them all, THOU ART THIS HEAD OF GOLD.

So we know that King Neb was the King of Babylon. The head (fine gold) starts at the BABYLONIAN EMPIRE.

Daniel 2:39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee

We know from history that the Medo-Persian empire conquered Babylon. In Daniel ch 5 it explains that king Nebs son, Belshazzar who was next & last king of Babylon, his kingdom was killed & conquered by the Medes (Darius)

Daniel 5:31 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about three score and two years old.

The Medes and Persians combined. (Darius & Cyrus.)
Daniel 6:8 Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altered not. See also Dan 6:28
(these are the breast and arms of silver Dan 2:32)

The Medo-Persian empire was conquered by Alexander the Great - Grecian Empire (Belly & thighs of silver Dan 2:32)

Daniel 2:39 .....and another third kingdom inferior to thee

Daniel 8:5 And I was considering, behold an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the he goat, had a notable horn between his eyes.

Daniel 8:7 And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and SMOTE the RAM, and brake his two horns (medo-persia) and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.

Daniel 8:8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.

So Alexanders great horn was broken. He died but wasn't conquered. His horn (kingdom) was divided between his four generals...they branched off with their own territories, but it became to large for them to control, they merged with the Romans (Roman/Greko era) and thus the Roman empire came up strong out of it.

Daniel 2:40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and subdues all things: as iron that breakes all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.

Rome is the legs of iron (Dan 2:32) Rome was never conquered, she lost her power but her system is still here lingering. The british empire came up strong, but she is still of the Roman empire. Same system.

Now the last kingdom,

Daniel 2:34 . . .his feet part of clay
Daniel 2:41 And whereas you saw the feet and TOES, part of potters clay, and part of iron (rome) the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in if of the strength of iron mixed with mirry clay.

Daniel 2:42 And as the toes of the feet were PART of IRON and PART oF clay, so the kingdom shall be PARTLY STRONG , and PARTLY BROKEN

Daniel 2:43 And whereas thou saw IRON MIXED with MIRY CLAY, they shall MINGLE themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

How do we know how many kings are involved in this last kingdom? Well the toes consist of 10 digits. .. The Beast that the woman is riding has 10 horns. To find out what these horns mean;

Rev 17:12 And the ten horns which thou saw are ten kings, which have recieved no kingdom as yet; but recieve power as kings one hour with the beast. To go further into detail look also in Rev 13 - the first beast rising up out of the sea. Also see Daniel 7:7-8

So this last 5th kingdom is the feet & toes. The toes consist of 10 digits. (10 kings) These make one kingdom.

But that only makes 5 kingdoms? If we start before the head (babylon) we learn that Egypt was the first empire, and Assyria the second empire - then Babylon started. This makes a total of 7 empires (kingdoms) from beginning till the end when Christ returns.

So we know that mountains means kings (kingdoms) The harlot is sitting on 7 kingdoms. The harlot is called Babylon the Great - Mother of Harlots. She is riding the whole lot from the beginning to the end. The last kingdom will consist of 10 kings. During the days of these last 10 kings, will Jesus come and destroy.

Not sure I understand. I do not see anything in revelations speaking of the daughters, but the woman herself.

Yes God said the desire for the woman will be her husband. But we are not talking about a wife. but a false wife. A harlot takes the wifes place in the bedroom, and acts as the wife. She is not an actual wife but a "false wife"

So we can see that the ten kings are very powerful here. They have the power to bring down her money system. These ten kings are the first beast in revelations. They are the ones that are preparing the way for the False Prophets arrival. How will they eat the flesh of the whore? They will cause mayhem . . . . the world will need a 'saviour' to rescue them . . how will they eat her flesh? They will cause the whole world to go bankrupt. Nation by nation, bank by bank. They will cause the economy to fall. People are going to loose their houses, their jobs, their positions. Food will be expensive to buy. The world will be in turmoil. Sickness will follow and crime will escalate. The world will be crying out somebody help us please...ufo's, gods, messiahs, anyone, please help!

Yes she is sitting on the beast which is sitting on the waters, and waters are made up of peoples, multitudes, nations and tongues...everybody. The world. Babylon the Great, Mother of Harlots is the World's system, ruled by Satan. She is not a real woman, she is also symbolic of a spiritually contaminated woman. She has daughters too, and these daughters make up false religions, false beliefs & false teachings. Anything that goes against God. All abominations. She is a harlot because she fools around on God giving herself to others. Her daughters are all the nations of the world, including Rome & Israel as well. They were born out of her and Jesus will destroy her spiritual & material side when he comes and she will never exist again, ever.

This is how the beast assumes power through the false prophet, I agree.

But scripture states that once the beast takes power, there is three and a half years of peace and joy. It it at the end of this 3 1/2 years right before the beast enters the temple to make "abomination" that he destroys the harlot. and when he does it, the whole world, "Who loved the harlot" is amazed and saddened that the harlot is destroyed.

Thus one must ask.. why would the beast destroy the harlot when the harlot is on his side, and the word evidently follows the harlot (which is to his advantage) right before he enters the holy of holies and commits the abomination of desolation?

Ah but your timeline is wrong. The harlot is not destroyed "BEFORE" the beast is given power. It is destroyed long after he has obtained power, in fact she is on his side. (Again I think unknowingly, because she does not know who he is)

I can't agree, If the Harlot is the world system run by satan, why would the beast (empowered by satan) destroy his own system? I am reminded of what jesus said when he was accused of removing a demon under satan's power.

Mark 3: 23-27: “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end. 27 No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.

The Harlot can not be the world system ruled by satan, because satan would be going against his own house "Satan casting out satan". As Jesus said, His kingdom would not be able to stand. No military man, or man in power would attack himself. Jesus made it clear satan would never do this.
