So you're saying, because God said so right? I'm looking for why He said so. Or if you just have your own reason why it would be wrong.
Yes I'm seriously asking this question. Why shouldn't I want to gain understanding, enlightenment or edification from a fellow Christian? Just because a culture says something is or is not wrong does not make it right or wrong. People are wrong about morals all the time; this includes entire cultures. Anyway I already believe it's wrong because that's what the Bible says I just want to know if anyone can give me reasons other than "because God said so."
I might be guilty of making this difficult on you but, fornication is becoming popular among some parts of the US among couples. And plus if I did have a problem with that what would you say for a guy that's single?
My 19-month old likes to turn the knobs on the stove. We have a gas stove, so if I let him do that, he could flood the house with gas and kill us all in the explosion. I am quite certain he doesn't understand that. He just think it's neat. And when he does it, and I say, "No!" and smack his hand, all he knows is, "Mom is mean, she won't let me do fun stuff."
I would venture a guess that, when compared to God, our knowledge and understanding is even less than that of a 19-month-old as compared to an adult. I don't know why God said so. And yes, that can be frustrating. I always hated it when, after my dad told me to do something, and I asked, "Why?" he would say, "Because I said so." But sometimes that's the best answer you can get. Just do it, and maybe then you'll figure out why. Or maybe not. If you trust your Father in Heaven, just do what He says.
There are some things in the Bible that some people interpret as wrong and other people say is misinterpreted. Divorce is a good example. In those cases, I say we should do what is most loving. If a person wants a divorce because he or she is in a destructive and/or abusive (non-Christian) relationship, they should be able to get out of that situation. Because that's the loving thing to do, and God is love. IMHO, "God is Love" trumps anything else you might read.
But WRT orgies. Seriously. Is that loving? Is there any case you can imagine in which engaging in an orgy helps someone (other than personal self-gratification)? I cannot.
