Why are we heaving our heart if this only make our yoke heavy (see Mat 11:28-30)?
• “Heaviness in the heart of man makes it stoop, but a good word makes it glad.” (Prov 12:25).
The life is so short, why are we so full of disquiet (Job 14:1)? Why do we plan on engaging in activities that only will fill us of the cares of this life and, thereby, leaving us unprepared for Christ's coming? Why acquire things that will burden us and make us fight with people around us (James 4:1-3)?
This only will make our heart heavy, sorrowful, wounded, broken. See below the aftermaths thereof:
1 – Continuous affliction:
• “All the days of the afflicted are evil, but gladness of heart is a continual feast.” (Pro 15:15)
2 – It dries what give structure, form and fastness to our body:
• “A merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” (Pro 17:22)
3 – It will make us lonely, lacking in love:
• “The spirit of a man will nourish his sickness, but a wounded spirit who can bear?” (Pro 18:14)
4 – It will break our spirit, disturbing our communion with Jesus Christ (and, obviously, with His Body) and, thus, putting at jeopardize our salvation:
• “A merry heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.” (Pro 15:13)
So, have a good day being elated with whom you are and wherewith you have:
• “For we brought nothing into the world, and it is clear that we can carry nothing out. But having food and clothing, we will be content.” (1Tim 6:7,8)
After all, is it worth procuring something that won’t make you happy, will preclude people of getting what they need to fulfill Jesus’ mission for their life and, on top of it, will entangle you in many harmful passions and concupiscence?
• “But they who will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts which plunge men into destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all evils, of which some having lusted after, they were seduced from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” (1Ti 6:9,10).
Finally, live the life with much love, peace and joy fleeing from all these things and following after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness (1Tim 6:11).
