Why is it some people seem to repel the world? Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Jesus said it best(from God the Father in Heaven, of course)>>>

first, those who do not repel the world >>> Jesus said of them >>>
(then next further down, those who do repel the world)
[h=1] Luke 6:24-30Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)[/h] [SUP]24 [/SUP]“But woe to you who are rich,
for you have already had all the comfort you will get!

[SUP]25 [/SUP]“Woe to you who are full now,
for you will go hungry!
“Woe to you who are laughing now,
for you will mourn and cry!

[SUP]26 [/SUP]“Woe to you when people speak well of you, for that is just how their fathers treated the false prophets!

[SUP]27 [/SUP]Nevertheless, to you who are listening, what I say is this:
“Love your enemies!
Do good to those who hate you,
[SUP]28 [/SUP]bless those who curse you,
pray for those who mistreat you.

[SUP]29 [/SUP]“If someone hits you on one cheek,
offer the other too;
if someone takes your coat,
let him have your shirt as well.

[SUP]30 [/SUP]“If someone asks you for something,
give it to him;
if someone takes what belongs to you,
don’t demand it back.

Why is it some people seem to repel the world? Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Some people repel the world for any number of reasons:

They're followers of Christ and don't compromise God's truth
or
They just don't fit into society's norm
or
They're just hateful human beings

Not talking about being a Christian. I'm talking about how no matter how hard a person tries they just can't seem to make friends. Does that make sense now?

Some people are socially awkward. Other's are just very shy and introverted, thus making it difficult for them to make friends easily. Some may repel friendships because they've been hurt by "friends" in the past, and are hesitant to trust anyone again. I never made friends easily and when I did, they used me. So I keep people like that away from me.

It can stem from a lot of things. A person can be socially awkward, which causes other people to not want to be friends with them. Could also stem from shyness or self-esteem issues due to past hurts. You can't really know unless the person starts opening up to you. Something I always say is it just takes one person to reach out to someone. Cause then that someone is making a difference, and maybe it will cause others to make a difference in the process.

Ah, so not repel deliberately then. Got it.

In a roundabout logic, you could say that it's the world that does the repelling. Many of us have preconceived notions on what's normal and what we prefer as far as company goes. Of course this is a pretty vague scenario, though; people can repel for any number of shortcomings.

I often appreciate the black sheep. Those of unconventional thinking/wisdom produce some great stuff sometimes.

I'm an oddball and I can make friends. If I can make friends, there's hope for you!

I watch 100 people get in a situation, take a course of action, and get a certain result. I get in the situation, take the course of action, and what results can only be described as pure insanity.

I've always wondered what was behind that (but secretly I know).

My relationship with the world has always seemed like a drop of water in a bottle of oil... the oil's not going to destroy the water, but it's going to do everything possible to expel it.

Must be part of that "in the world not of it" thing.

I was this person until college. I'm not sure why exactly, I think God just wants some of us to make Him our friend first. I never rejected the world it's just people always rejected me. I think most people in that situation could say the same thing.

again, and still, and always >> ('friends' in the world are not something to be desired, they are not trustworthy, honest, reliable or looking out for your good ... (God always does the best for your good) ) .

Proverbs 14:20
The poor is disliked even by his neighbor, but the rich has many friends.

Proverbs 19:4
Wealth brings many new friends, but a poor man is deserted by his friend.

Proverbs 19:7
All a poor man’s brothers hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him! He pursues them with words, but does not have them.

then,, for reality,, for God's Help in Christ Jesus >>>> (He never promises 'friends' in the world, just the opposite, as some verses posts above this).....

James 4:
7 Therefore, submit to God. Moreover, take a stand against the Adversary, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and he will come close to you. Clean your hands, sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded people! 9 Wail, mourn, sob! Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy into gloom! 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

The difference between "make a friend" and "be a friend". Everyone loves someone who is sincerely interested in them. At least those who are worth having as friends do.

I can make real friends. They can be cool to have.

Although, I have an imaginary friend....I like him the best.
He never argues with me.

Although?,..... sometimes......... I wonder if all of my past real friends were imaginary? :(

I refer to this as life language, the way a person expresses self without uttering a word. This expression is intuitively identified by the sense of life language in another person. We do not realize we are doing this, but results are definitive. There is a reason people are drawn to some and not to others. Some learn this and use it to their advantage in both positive and negative actions. It actually defines a person socially.

I had this problem, and then I recognized who I was and recognized that God gave it to me as a gift not a curse. You learn to play to the good parts of your personality. I'm introverted but all someone has to do is get me going on the topic of music or movies and I'll talk a mile a minute.

Honestly though I think a lot of it has to do with knowing who you are and loving who you are.

Hey, I'm the same. I've always been that way when I think of it. Before I met Jesus I never did well in the nightclub scene, though id go I struggled to meet and interact with people. I always enjoyed gatherings with small amounts of people.
The same for church now, I don't do well when there's heaps of people around, actually I really don't like it and I don't really know what to do about it. But I love home groups, that's where I thrive in getting to know a person or them getting to know me, start me on a topic of interest and I wont shut up lol

Yeah it seems I'm the same way when it comes to sports. Anything outside of that, I have trouble keeping in conversations with people. I'm an introverted introvert and for me it's always easier to do something like write this post to you than it is talking face to face with you if we were in the same room.

I have never been good at making friends after certain events in my youth left me with low self esteem and deep down not believing i am a good person.

Only recently after my marriage failed have i stopped to take a good look at myself and this is the main thing that i have learnt... and since i have begun to take to heart that i am a good person - certainly not perfect course, but a good person, someone who deserves love and friendship, have i felt a renewed inner strength and confidence i have never felt before! I think this is one of the most important things that will lead to making friends easily?
