Seems that my posting this thread stirred up a hornets nest plus a rush to judgement.

Thanks Roger. So many churches do things differently. When .y Mom took me to a Baptist Church they had their way of doing things too.
My Church may not even be around in the next couple of years. We're struggling and it's sad. They're looking for a part time Pastor and that hasn't been easy. A lot of members left when the last Pastor left. There was this tense congregational meeting and a heated discussion. It was awful. But I'm still there. A fellow member that recently died, who I looked up to and I discussed the situation a bit. I wasn't sure what to do. It's just sad, but he told me to do what you're supposed to do when you're here, focus on God. Walk into the sanctuary and give it all to God. I teach children's Sunday school, I'm the only one willing, which is sad in my opinion and right now my class has 3 kid's, two are mine. I enjoy it, but it's sad there isn't another kid or two. He said, teach hour class. Your there they like you, you enjoy it, even if there's only one kid, teach with the same enthusiasm. My dog Sophie a Border Collie is allowed to come to Sunday school because it actually helped bring kid's in, but then I guess she got boring, lol. Her biggest trick is rolling arouton her back and making weird noises, so she isn't Lassie, lol.
That truly is a sad story, for the Church that Jesus spilled his blood to set up, however, I greatly admire your courage, and you are def. making a difference in the lives of the three young people who you are mentoring. They are young and impressionable and vunerable, what you are doing now will be remembered for a lifetime. I am 62 and still remember how much I loved sunday School and Vacation Bible School. It was def. the highlight of my summer. I too taught Sunday School for a time and now I get to see the results of that in a couple of young lives. Your efforts are def, not in vain. Enjoy what you do!!

That's really kind Silver wings , thank you. Unfortunately after the Pastor we had for year's retired the church lost a lot of members. There was also some stuff going on that was brushed under the rug for year's . One person running the show and some stuff that wasn't in the best interest of anyone. We did have another Pastor, but he wasn't a good fit. I liked his sermons and as a person I thought he was a good guy, it just didn't work out and he moved on. During his time others left, then after he left more left. There's a good group of people there who are trying. I think the biggest ministry there right now is the food pantry. It's well run and helps a lot of people. We also have different groups that meet there like the Boy Scouts. If that building closes and that food pantry moves I'm worried about the people who don't have transportation to get to other places. It's hard and said and it's a good community building. Right now they're looking into combining churches, that's a possibility. I leave it in God's hands, that's all I can do.
I'm happy you shared that with me. Sometimes it's hard to tell if they are getting anything out of it because kid's are Kid's and sometimes they get bored. 2 of the kid's there are my own kid's. I have to force my Son to go, basically threaten him with taking things away if he doesn't, lol. He's almost 11 so I'm sure that's not unusual. I just hope someday they realize I was pushing them for the right reason, a relationship with God.

While I certainly see your point, I think it is an important factor when the "church hurt" occurs to the one being hurt. If your a salty old dog believer, fixed in the faith that hurt will probably not stick and grow as it would to a newly saved, and less weathered in spiritual warfare individual.
