1 Corinthians 13:12-13
New King James Version

12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

That’s where I was going with the questions surrounding Jesus’ return and life after death. “We see in a mirror, dimly” and we don’t have clear answers in some areas. God enjoys keeping us in suspense and searching for answers. We love a mystery, and many of those mysteries have been solved with Jesus’ first coming. Faith, hope, and love sum up the gospel of the Kingdom well, and Jesus is love personified.

So, is the 1000 year millennium literal or metaphorical? Perhaps the answer is the logical, yes.

One thing that stands out to me is the saints will live and reign with Christ during the millennium. “Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years” (Rev. 20:6).

This is what I’m preparing for brother – being a priest of God and serving others, perhaps those who have lived through the horrors of the apocalypse and helping them to recover and establish a new life and a new society under Jesus our King.

There may be some “shuttle diplomacy” involved. Christ will reign supreme from heaven, and David will rule on earth during the “latter days”:

“Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They shall fear the Lord and His goodness in the latter days” (Hosea 3:5).

“But they shall serve the Lord their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up for them” (Jer. 30:9).

“David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgements and observe My statutes, and do them. Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their children’s children, forever; and My servant David shall be their prince forever” (Ezek. 37:24-25).

What a great mystery!
Yeah brother I hear ya . I think though that there’s a lot more there that does teach us a bunch . But we have to see the two testaments and how they interact

“For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:13

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.”
‭‭Malachi‬ ‭4:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We could read this and say “ okay Elijah needs to come before the day of the lord to turn the hearts of the people “ bit if we spend some time listening to Jesus then we can see how the law and prophets prophesied until John . Remember that verse about Elijah there

“But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:13, 15-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if ye will receive it, this is Elijah , which was for to come. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:13-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I’m not sure the example makes sense but it’s all that way so David being king represents Christ the son of David Gods appointed king over those people

what I mean is your quote about David there

David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd”

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:32-33‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“they shall all have one shepherd”

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10:11, 16‬ ‭

when we’re reading the ot we need to be looking for figures of Christ and the nt because they are about him and his kingdom

“and he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:20-21, 24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The ot is prophetic and the nt is about fulfillment “law and prophets prophesied until John “

Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.”
‭‭Malachi‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“ what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee”

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Which shall prepare thy way before thee. John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:1-2, 4‬ ‭

“And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.”
‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the whole Bible works the same way it’s all prophetic in tbe ot about Jesus Christ and his kingdom
