Why isn't Trump trying to stop Russia from trying to kill U.S. soldiers?

After the White House walked back the above statements, Trump said that he wasn't walking back anything. Then later, he denied saying these things. Wait...no, that was Biden who said these things! My bad, much like Orange Man!
