Why the Old Law/Covenant Does not apply to NT Christians..

Galatians 5:4 - Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Those doing so are no longer saved. They are going to have to ask for forgiveness and stop following the law of Moses and get back to following the Lord Jesus under the New Covenant to get back to being acceptable to the Lord.

Salvation the same as in believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

You do not understand the arguement. I am saying When the law was given God struck up a contract that said if you follow the law all you will get is Health, Wealth, God's protection and a piece of the promise land. That's it. Nothing in the original contract says that if you follow the law you will receive eternal life.

Meaning Job and David could believe in a redeemer. The point I am making is that NOTHING In The Contract God made when He gave the law promised eternal life. You can't really argue this because the Sadducees who only worshiped God by the first 5 books of the bible, Say this. Remember this was what was taught in the temple by the sadducees during the time of Christ. They only believed in the Torah as being the inspired word of God. Remember the Torah where the books of moses/the first 5 books of the OT Which contain the law and the stipulations of God's original contract, and their whole form of worship based on the torah Conclusively says there is no after life.

One has to move outside of the books that contain God's covenant/contract and the law inorder to find scriptural support for the idea of an afterlife. Which is what the Pharisees did and what you are doing.

But again if you only look at the contract and the law at the time they where given and agreed upon.. Nothing even mentioned the idea of an after life let alone the promise of eternal life.

So following the law as a means to eternal life is a fool's errand. Even Jesus says so in John5:39

Remember even in the time of Jesus, the temple leadership taught that there was no afterlife. This was the primary difference between the pharisees (Temple minority) and the Sadducees (Official temple leadership.)

Actually the opposite is true.
The pharisees thought as you do that in the OT scripture can be found a path to eternal life.

Jesus point out this is wrong. He says the scripture points to Him as the only source for eternal life. What this means/How this is different than what you/the pharisees claim, is they thought that the OT laws; If you followed them, lead to eternal life. Jesus in John 5:39 is saying nothing in the OT scripture (Following the law) lead to eternal life.

39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

Again the point being is that the scripture rather the Old covenant/Old contract do not provide a path to eternal life. Only Jesus does. Which means before Jesus there was no a contractual path to eternal life through the law.

Now I understand what your knee jerk response will be.. You will want to quotes all of the passages in the ot and NT that point to eternal life. which is all fine and good but do not apply here. Why? Because all scripture point to what Jesus says here.. That HE alone is the only way to eterna life, that every scripture you will want to quote ultimately will go back through Jesus.

Meaning, before Jesus there was no contract between God and anyone else that said if you follow the law you will receive eternal life.

Now that said AFTER Jesus, there is a new contract, that does say we can inherit eternal life if we follow/believe in Him. But, again this is a new reward, new contract, new expectations.

I'm not saying anyone could ever follow the law and be saved, but eternal salvation was always belief on the Lord Jesus Christ. Different method of service though ot and nt.

I think we are saying the same thing.

Wether it was or wasn't is not the point. The point I am making is no one who agreed to the original contract when it was given to Moses Including Moses himself knew anything of the after life/eternal life.

Meaning the stated purpose of following the law according to deut 28 was:

28 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:

3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.

4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.

5 Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.

6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.
7 The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.

8 The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.

9 The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him. 10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. 11 The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity—in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground—in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.

12 The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. 13 The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. 14 Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.

Note eternal life was not apart of the original agreement.

So if you are going to try and legalistically follow the law, then know your reward is not eternal life. It basically amounts to "Health, wealth, God's protection, Long life and a piece of the promise land. At least under the old contract.
