This is good stuff. I have just tried to venture back out in into Christian music again and I am finding the same thing. A lot of it sounds the same, too. Manufactured. I can flip to one of the three or so Christian music stations in this area and it generally sounds like they are playing the same thing. Worship music is a whole other rant. 
I'm curious to go back to check out some of the CCM from when I was trying to find stuff I liked before I sort of fell away in the early 2000s. I loved stuff like Starflyer 59, but there wasn't much of a Christian message there.
I would like to find more stuff like Keith Green. His stuff was always challenging and he was a great musician, too. Not everyone has to be, but it's always been a bit depressing that some of the best displays of musicianship came from secular music. Not that everyone has to be a virtuoso to make good music with meaning.

Christian music doesn't suck. Christian music is the hymns that the people of God could sing together in their corporal worship of God.
What sucks is the imitation Christian music presents itself as, as Christian, but is of the flesh. Christians want to play with the world, seen as accepted by the world. See, we are cool too. Nauseating.

Maybe check out The Glourious Unseen. They were basically a worship band but minus all the mainstream junk. It was really good. I thought the album Tinight the Stars Speak was their best.

No. I don't know why it is any less important for musicians to be paid for their services, and time than it is for anyone else. Pastors deserve pay, teachers deserve pay, maintenance personnel deserve pay, why not those who dedicate themselves to skill and craft of music and song that ushers the spirit into worship?

I forgot to reply the other day. I checked out a couple of songs by the Glourious Unseen the other day and likee what I heard. They did some different things that made their music interesting.
It might be time to dive in and try to find some Christian music I like again. Thankfully the internet makes options a lot more wide open than the local music stations.

which SF59 did you mean, btw? i forgot to reply too. starflyer went through a lot of changes over the years, and thinking about it, the thing that maybe really unifies all the albums is the tone of Martin's guitar, and the sense of melody in his playing. like some certain singer's voice, i recognize it right away and know it's him
