Do you think it's to do with feeling 'lower class' or something. Cos that's the main division back in the olden days UK, probably still is these days. The common people were Salvos and Quakers. The Quakers used to not accept those in higher education, cos they'd have to doff their hats to them and call them professor, and they would wear fancy clothes.
Or something I can't remember now. I just know they preferred everyone to wear plainclothes and call everyone a friend. Sometimes it seems to me a kind of communism/socialism they were advocating.
There was 'high church' which is different to 'low church' I wish someone who lives in the UK would explain it to me.
