Do you plan to wear a wedding ring if/when you get married? Do you expect your spouse to wear one? Why/why not?
 
I wouldn't mind not having/giving a ring but SOMETHING must be evident and clear to say "Taken and beloved"


Like.... Aragorn's Necklace given to him by Arwen. Yeah, that guy doesn't need a ring.
 
Bahaha awesome answer Liamson. :) I like rings....but sweet unique rings. Diamonds and gold bore me.....
 
HE BETTER!!! >_< I'd like that little shiny thing thats like a billboard saying he belongs to someone else. DON'T GO NEAR HIM!!! (i'm they type to get in a fight over my husband) unless of course he started it. then he would quickly learn that cheating on me is a mistake NEVER to be repeated. >_^ that all in the future of course. ^_^
 
I would wear my ring all the time (maybe with some exceptions, like when doing some work that requires to take off the ring) and I would like my husband to wear it too. I'm a typical girl I guess, I see wearing the ring as symbolic of our union, although I do know the real connection is within the marriage, not the ring, that's very very clear to me. Personally if I love a guy I would like everybody to know that im not available anymore, that's how I see it.

About taking the husband's name, im OK with it,I would do it. Hyphenate it could be an option too but I think my last name is not very....combinable, it already sounds weird by itself haha.
 
Yeah I'd wear one. Although im not totally opposed to getting his name tattod around my ring finger so i dont have to wear one.
 
I don't like wearing any kind of jewelry just because its uncomfortable. I have nerve damage that affects my fingers so I may be off the hook anyway. I guess I'd still wear it if we were going out someplace nice. I wouldn't demand that she wear a ring either. I would like to HAVE rings though that we wear at least on our wedding day. Can you rent wedding rings?

I am a "needle-sissy," so a tattoo is absolutely out of the question LOL. I would wear a ring; it's just always been a symbol in the traditional marriage that I thought was important - the unity is truly in the marriage, you are right about that, but a ring tends to signal to other people that this person has found their match in life and isn't looking to find another. As far as taking my husband's name (call me old-fashioned!), the Bible says for husband and wife to cleave together and become one, so I would definitely take his name. Plus - I have been trying to change my name for years so what better way to do it? LOL!

I've always assumed that I would wear one, never thought about it much though.
I suppose I'd see what my wife wanted to do, I personally would want to wear it all times, except obvious moments when it's not practical, but I would have no problem wearing it on a chain around my neck if it was uncomfortable on my finger.
To be honest I would want my wife to wear her ring as well, just because it would mean something to me.

Also, it would help inform the singles of the world to move on before an uncomfortbale 'sorry, I am married' gets spoken out loud. I can well imagine a pushy guy saying 'well, you aren't wearing a ring'

I never wore rings before, but I was insistent about a wedding band. It was really weird for a couple months, but I've gotten used to it. I wish I could say it stops guys from making comments or flirting with me, but it doesn't. I've had a few dudes ask if it was a wedding band or 'just an engagement ring.' Regardless man, it means I'm taken! lol By the way, I realize that makes me sound really full of myself like I'm fighting off guys all the time or something... but these are hardly high quality gentlemen.

My husband wanted something that would be comfortable so we ended up getting him a titanium ring. They make space shuttles out of the stuff! Super strong and super light. Also it was only like 30 bucks and he totally loves it.
 
I have never really wanted an engagement ring. I think if my husband wanted to do rings, I would prefer something very sweet and simple. I do like the idea of getting something engraved in both of the rings. That would be something special to share with my husband.
 
rainacorn, I totally agree that a wedding ring means very little to some guys. They will hit on you anyway. It should be legal to leave the imprint of your wedding ring on their forheads. :) I'm KIDDING...kinda ;)

I'm very traditional when it comes to such things. I like simple bands (though I am allergic to gold, so it has to be something else) and, for me, taking your husband's name is a treasure. The scriptures talk about coverings. For me, this is one of them.
 
As a guy: I like Titanium, Carbon Composite Ceramic, Tungsten and if they made an Adamantium ring, I would probably be okay with that too. :)
 
Yes I want to wear a ring. And I'd like my husband to wear one too. Now as to the metal the rings will be made out of? Who cares! Although.. some coppery steampunk-y ring would be pretty cool to me.. :)
 
I'd wear a ring, and prefer to as well. I've also thought about the engraving, though that would be optional. Like Kayem said, its a symbol, not only to others, but also a reminder to yourself of the commitment.

I'd also prefer she take my name. I'm not into the hyphenated thing. Guess i'm a bit traditional in these respects.
