I went to church, following the Spirit.
Once there, I sat and quietly listened and sang along.
I took note, however, of a woman who was taking notes.

It may be nothing,
or it could be something more.

Pray for discernment and timing.

Heh taking note of a woman taking notes. Sounds quite noteworthy to me.

Are you asking the prayer be said for your discernment and timing, or for hers?

I know a lady who takes notes at church. I assume she is trying to learn things from the sermon.

She's probably a witch, or an Illuminati operative. She might be with some foreign intelligence agency. She might even be an ISIS sleeper agent.

...or she might just be trying to learn...or she's doodling because the sermon was boring as most are.

Hmm, and here I was under the impression she is probably cute and the OP was wondering if he should ask her out on a date, hence my question. You could be right though.

The prayer is for my own discernment, if she is someone I should approach.
The service was welcome, even if the style was a bit much.
I loved the emphasis on prayer, singing, salvation, and missions.

The woman in front of me eventually raised her hand and spoke up about her interest in a mission trip.
She had already caught my interest, but the missions passion is what got my attention.

I do not claim it as a sign from God, but she stood out that night.

The passage of focus was James 4.

Well as you have asked so then shall I pray for you.

And if I might be so bold I might add that you should pray to God for him to grant to you a little courage too to approach this woman. May God's name be blessed either way though.

Lord we pray for this matter, let you please bless this matter, we agree and ask, please bless IDEAtor, in this matter, in Jesus Holy name, Amen!

Naboth and Levi, thank you for your sincere prayers.

I do pray and have asked others to pray about this woman.
As for my boldness, I do not sense any reason to approach her,
as I do not know if she is married or has a kids.
I only know what I saw in one service.
Again, my motive was following the Spirit to what became a good service with
the message on prayer.

James 4, as you know, is about praying for God's motives and to receive what God wills.
I do not want to blitz a woman whom God is preparing for work in another country.
However, I will pray and plan on attending the church again.

Were she not there, I'd still go back.

If God calls me elsewhere, then I will follow Him there. (Lord, help me in this.)

update!

I talked with God and Christians about my experience.
And after the hours/few days of seeking God on the matter,
I went to the same church.

I went to see if I might see her, but I also went to attend the Wednesday portion of the church gathering.
And I cannot tell you enough... how much my heart was touched:

The music spoke to me (I read a book called crossbearers today, and one of the songs reminded me of that.)
The preacher did not jump me, but he did welcome me. And the prayer service was bathed in Scripture and
tactful-spiritual preparation for going into the community and world.

They mentioned people to visit and asked who would do this?
They mentioned people sick or without family or this or that.
And they prayed, one by one, for those named.
Everyone was prayed for and the message was about God, Spirit, Jesus.
And how we can and should will overcome through Christ who strengthens.

If this was not enough,
this new church (new to me) had someone I knew.
A woman I bumped into while at a Wendy's.
She was utterly overflowing with grandmotherly joy in Jesus.
And she and I exchanged a familial hug of thanksgiving.

I mean, I literally, forgot why I went to the church.
Because I was absorbing the welcome, the witness, and the Word.

Then, to top it off, there is a man who just moved back into the area who is about my age.
I had opened up because he seemed a welcoming pal.
Well, even though not much was said before the service, I learned through the prayer time that he witnesses specifically to muslims. This is HUGE for timing! Because I just noticed an old church that is now converted into a mosque. And God has told me the past few days to prepare for the new witness situation.

The chances?!

So.... in short... I know this is where I belong for a few pages or a chapter of my life.
I know that God has led me to this congregation for the purpose of witness partners.
While the music compelled me on night one, and the woman caught my attention; on night two,
it was the effervescent community of outreach-oriented spirit that tugged on my heart.

Now, this does NOT knock the previous places where I've attended.
They all have pointed to Christ and welcomed me.

But this one, there is something different about it.
The missional concern is congregationally accepted.

(I'm still praying about that woman with the notebook)

Topic Closed (False Alarm)...
i have since received answers to my prayers.
the woman with a notebook is kind,
but my wondering is resolved on the matter.

Actually,
I met someone from my past and we have been talking and have since been getting together.
God seems to bless our mutual love for one another. Ironically, after the woman whom I intend on marrying came to church with me, the notebook lady shared that she's been praying for us (friend and myself and where God would lead.)
