It's like this.... men and women are to be treated nicely because that's what God wants BUT we don't deserve that nice treatment. Does that make sense?
It makes sense, but does it really mean anything? We certainly don't deserve nice treatment from God, and yet He gives it willingly. But from each other? We are all in it together; All cursed by the same curse, we are brothers and sisters.

So, I'm left wondering about this thread. We are told that God's word is good for correction and guidance. But the only guidance you've provided from the Bible is a brief passage from Romans 13, which is regarding 'Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities' and continues on to say 'Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.' So, I ask: Is your opinion on this matter built upon a firm foundation from the Word? If so, it would likely be more effective to share that.

Seoulsearch was black and white wrong... there was no other way to say it. I'm just being honest.

I don't think there's anything with me making threads about things that might be wrong in some women.

But I think my execution can be better.

Ummm... I think your execution may be imminent.
: )

I absolutely deserve to have a nap today. I earned one.

Straight up, ya'll.

G'nite.

^ Okay this actually clears up a lot of things. Thanks for explaining the bigger picture. :)

And no hard feelings about the past threads. Sorry if I came off sounding suspicious. I'm sensitive and stuff....so yeah.

On the original topic...I don't think I've ever used the word "deserve" for myself ever. There are things I will not tolerate because I think they are poisonous to my spiritual growth, but I am understanding that that is different from the word "deserve". I never really thought too much about the term before in a Christian context.

I wish I could explain better what I said but because there are different interpretations... it's really difficult.

I can tell your sensitive. :) And it can actually be a really nice thing because you can express emotions much more than others. It's cool, I'm sensitive too... this is just my insensitive side...when I go into trying to explain things logically.

I'm glad were cool-er now. :)

It's based on the word. I just figured most of what I said was common knowledge. Isn't it all based off scripture teaching? We deserve hell. We're not entitled to good things but instead we're entitled to hell. Yet, we hear some women say they deserve good treatment. I really think this is common knowledge... and I brought up Romans 13 verse because I don't think that's common knowledge.

Hi buff :) .. man you sure drew a crowd and fast !! Lol very good ! I saw something in that I've not seen before(very interesting in fact) thank you for posting this ...
being someone who was beaten and badly ... I "totally get" where you are coming from . And see very clearly the lenses you are looking through .. You are right on track !
when this first happened to me (abuse ) I was completely disoriented .. I felt like I did as a child all over again in foster care..
I was brought to my knees again in it too.
having gone through that and almost not surviving it .. I will say this ..
Now on the other side and by the mercy and grace of God, I see many different things ..
It pushed me to the edge where I had to cry out to God for help .. It also brought me into an extremely good view of the suffering Christ went through for me..
He did what I wasn't willing to do ... And that was Die ... I got a front row seat into his experience without the consequences of death...A view of Gods mercy ..
He also did something else I did not do ... He "gave up" his rights so I could be saved and go directly to God... where before I could not.. An example of Gods grace towards us "giving us MORE than we deserve".
I think you are sharing a very important view.. I find no fault in your post what so ever ... And I have come from this road ..

There are a lot of people who have a sense of entitlement. Men,women, my children. I don't know you well, but I hope you meet a nice un entitled person to spend your life with.:D

I have learned through my own failures buff ... I've thrown stones too... I threw them at reminders of "my own failures "
The places I myself didn't allow God in to repair and work in and through my life .

Sometimes, failures is the only way to learn. I'm still going through messes... like with my failures in school... (sigh) I wish my life was different. I wish I was done with it and ready to start a family, get married. But, I'm not... it'll be okay though. Anyways, I'm glad... your here now though, with God and saved. :)

I consider every bit of it gain !! even though I was cryin "momma momma help me" at the time.. lol

I can really laugh at it now and even crack jokes about it . , this is the kind of healing God has done in me ...
I picture him with his hand down and me continually running into it .. I laugh because I can just see god sitting there jist shaking his head going "child child " bless your heart ..

I think men should keep their mouths shut on issues regarding women. Men aren't women, they never were women (in most cases), they will never be women (hopefully). So shut up about what you don't understand...especially if you're single.

I'm glad that there are men out there standing up for the women.

But there is truth to your thread here, Buff. If you truly believe that it's both men and women who think they deserve too much, then I'm for you. But if you're just picking on women, God will have to deal with you. I do believe we use the word deserve way too much in the wrong context. Deserving means that you've done something to earn something better. Some people use it to mean that God loves you so should have something better. Instead of telling them they "deserve" something better, tell them they can have something better. The word deserve can sometimes cause confusion because it's used in many different ways.

It's not just that word... re-reading through my thread....

No, the problem isn't that word. It's pride... pride... pride... pride... pride.... pride! That's the real problem

PRIDE IS THE REAL PROBLEM

So, if Christian women were more humble... they wouldn't use that word out of I guess "instinct" if that makes sense.

Pride is pointing the finger at one gender and saying it's all their fault, or all their problem.

I get what you're saying, Buff, I really do. I don't agree with 100% of it, but I would encourage you to think about your approach next time. My hackles were already raised before I even entered the thread just because of the title. If you want people to listen to you, it's better to approach things like this in a more respectful manner and not gender bash. Men and women are BOTH fallen, and I, like MissCriss, am getting a bit tired of seeing "Here is why women suck" threads. I have seen some threads like that about men, but my point is that both are equally frustrating. We all have blame to take.

I get what you are saying, Buff. :) I truly do. I think the part that has put burrs under the saddles of some folks is that it is not only women who say and behave as if they are entitled to certain things and/or certain behaviors, and the title of this thread implies that it's a women only thing, brother. :)

I will confess that I have behaved this way a time or two myself, but I've learned a great deal in these forums and it has brought about some changes in my behavior. :)

There was a time when I would probably not have gone out with a guy again if he didn't open a door or two for me. There was a time when I refused to call a man because I was taught growing up that this was something ladies simply did not do. I am older now and I have learned that there are a lot of sweet, intelligent, loving, godly men out there who were raised differently. That doesn't make them damaged goods. Not looking BEYOND that makes me ignorant.

I'm reading between the lines here and do not want to presume to speak for you, but it appears what you are trying to say is that there are times when some women expect to not just be treated well, but expect (or even DEMAND) to be put up on a pedestal. Am I wrong?

If that is the case, as someone who HAS been a Christian woman for a very long time, I think much of this is caused by certain literature that circulates among Christian young ladies that is not received with prayer and godly wisdom. I think it can cause Christian ladies to get the idea that any guy who seeks their hand should be just like Jesus, forgetting sometimes that becoming like Jesus is a life-long process we ALL go through. We can't expect men who pursue us to get everything right all the time and cast them aside if they don't. We need to be asking ourselves how far along WE are in the process as well.

We ladies also need to remember that if we are going to bash guys from time to time, we need to be ready to eat a little humble pie of our own. :) We need to stop acting like we are all perfect little godly princesses swimming around with our crowns in the heart of Jesus and get a grip.

Agree 100%! But girls should stop expecting a perfect man... and same for men wanting a Stepford wife. we should stop expecting perfection. Ladies, don't generalize about the state of men - there are guys like me who just want a lifelong companion to confide in and who loves us despite our faults... just like God :)

And I'm starting to realize that most girls could care less about chivalry lol :p but surprised Christian women don't mind anymore!
