if you search the scriptures with the word preach you will see that it doesn't say man or woman unless it talks about a certain man that is talking saying he is called to preach. if you look up ministered you will see a woman that was healed who got up and ministered. if you look real close Jesus says we are his bride and when God has ordained someone to preach the gospel it is Gods word not man or woman. pray about it and God will reveal the truth about it everyone has their own belief i know, but the truth is Jesus and he will show you the truth if you ask. The days are too short to argue about if a woman can preach or teach. if you know the bible is a mystery that is revealed to us if you desire to know the mystery you will know the truth. don't look at it as a man or woman where Christ is spoken, but look for Christ in the message. Look for Christ in everything if its not of God then leave it alone. we are souls God wants lost souls. just because you preach doesn't mean you have authority over a man or woman.

Sorry, but I have to go by God everytime. Not only when I like the scripture I am reading.
Woman do have roles in the church, and they are very fullfulling. We as women have different jobs, not inferier ones.

True, but the OP is dealing with CCchat...fellowship. Two rude women shouldn't be cause for all women to be silent on CC.

I have read and heard many good things from women. And I actually support women discussing and making comments in a "bible study" class, so I hope you don't get the wrong idea. But I do believe that women should not "speak" (be the speaker) in a worship service.

But the comment I wanted to make is this: Do you think that WISDOM is really, literally, a woman in the scripture?

We are talking about 2 Timothy 2:12 (context 11-15),

Apparently the room was for learning, some may take it as a service. The women dominated the room, and it sounds to me they went as far as teaching and having exercise authority in the room (taking the OP's word).

Now if they were fellowshipping and making comments, that's different right? Of course to many of you that is. That's pretty much my conclusion.

first think what wisdom is. is wisdom a man or woman? search the scriptures and see what it says about wisdom. i do not think it is literally a woman. the bible is a mystery. you have to rightly divide the scriptures. when i have a question i pray and i search the bible scriptures for the question i have

Is God the Father literally a male? Yes He is, according to His word. The Bible says wisdom is a Spirit, and she is female. ​

So I wandered into the Bible Study Room this afternoon, hoping to learn something. At that time there were two women dominating the chat, almost non stop. What they said, and the way the said it, came across as teaching, sometimes even preaching. I guess there's nothing wrong for a woman to express her personal faith in Jesus Christ, but this went way too far in my opinion. Should women be allowed to dominate the chat in such a way at CC (especially in Bible Study Room) if we take scripture seriously? Your thoughts please, preferably backed up with scripture. Thank you.

Whether online or face to face or whatever, the issue of women teaching is an issue of the heart. I have no other Scripture but yours... but you have to look closely at it to see it:

"I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet" (1Tim. 2:12).

Do you see it. "I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man." If a woman, in her heart (the unseen person (some people aren't even aware of their own motives)), desires or seeks to be over a man-- in teaching, preaching, driving, managing, cooking, the simplest things-- the Lord is the One who does not permit it not just Paul. Paul was a representative for Jesus; when he said things the Lord had not specifically told or okayed to him, he made it clear; but most of the time, what he was saying was from the Lord. As he said to the churches he planted, "Follow me as I follow the Lord" (I will only pursue this further if you would like some evidence of this). Okay, I do have a passage which includes your own. Please look at the passage in context and you will see, as I said above, that it is the heart that is the issue (i.e. whatever a woman does with the desire or motive to rule or have control over a man, in that thing, no matter how small, she is wrong in God's eyes because she is out of place, taking first place when God created her to come in second):

"Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety" (1Tim. 2:8-15).

To further clarify the above (and clarify that Paul meant 'gentle, not having hidden heart motives to usurp rule' when he said women should be 'quiet', etc.), here is what Peter says about the same thing:

"Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear" (1Pet. 3:1-6).

"The unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit... is of great worth in God's sight" because He made it that way. So, whether it's online, face to face, or whatever, "the Lord looks on the heart", and He doesn't want women-- who <do> teach, preach, prophesy, rule, manage, even the smallest things in life like raising kids or grocery shopping and any other thing-- to have a heart that desires, prefers, or wants/needs to usurp authority (go first), rule over men, or be over men. I sure hope that makes sense to you, because today it's a big issue in the world and a big debate in churches.

1 Timothy 5:1 Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers. 2 Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters.

As your own mother. Do you tell your mother to be silent, or do you heed her instruction? Does a child dare tell his mother, "sit down and be silent, woman. I can't learn from you"? Not a respectful child who honors his mother.

Christ appeared to the women first after His resurrection and they were first to tell of the Good News too!!! There were women prophetesses in the Bible. Just something to keep in mind.

This verse is speaking of a husband and wife relationship.

1 Timothy 2:11 A WIFE should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a WIFE to teach or to assume authority over her HUSBAND; she must be quiet.

The verses go on to speak of Adam and Eve, a married couple. The woman was deceived first, thus, in a married relationship the husband has authority over the wife. It goes on to say that women will be saved through childbearing, something that is only supposed to happen to a married couple.

1 Timothy 2:15 But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

Further, it does not mean "saved" in the sense of salvation, but "saved" as in an honorable place for woman in the family since Eve was deceived first. Motherhood is an honorable position. Honor your mother - Deuteronomy 5:16
