The Ephesian deity seemed to teach women in power over men. So it was a cultural thing that had to be overcome before women could teach. A lot of unlearning as it were. As far as women lording it over men, no one was to lord it over anyone.

When did he revoke that authority. Don't word play just answer the question. Was Jesus the teacher of Paul or Paul the teacher of Jesus. I think I'll take Jesus!

Pastac oh I hope we can agree soon. First. All still born babies are as alive in their mother's womb as the ones that take the first breath. Many of those still born babies hearts beat as a living baby in the mother, but the heart cannot continue to beat if there is no spirit in the baby. So pastac, when did that baby live if it is a still born? I say NEVER. Even if he had a heartbeat in the mother he was still living off the mother, not of his own spirit. When Jesus died He said Father ... and He gave up the spirit.... When the spirit is not there there is no life. And the spirit enters when the baby takes that first breath... that spirit is like the LIFE of the baby. Life is not SHARING breath/siprit with another it is your OWN spirit that is your life. And just as ADAM became a living soul, so should EVERY baby. The spirit in the baby is what gives him life. No spirit, no life.

You ask me if it was Paul of Jesus (God) that command that women should be quiet in church.... It was GOD not PAUL.

Proof... 1 Cor 14:1Co 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
1Co 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
1Co 14:36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
1Co 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

This 1 Cor 14 is commandments of the Lord. The church is a gathering whether in a building or outside in a field. When there is three brethren or more it is a church. Col 3:18..Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
Eph 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Never does the Bible reverse these roles. Never is it said that the man is not the head or the woman is now the second head..Never.

If Jesus said to Mary to go tell the disciples to wait for Him and that He is alive, then He did so. I have no problem with that. So now they have the Truth, does that make them preachers and teachers and the head of the man? NEVER! now if that is not STRETCHING the Truth I do not know. Even Mary was told what to do. I have no problem with that, but did she get authority to go preach in church now? NEVER!

Come on how can Mary talk and be quiet at the same time? If I was there I will SEE that Mary and all women reverence their husbands.... And if a husband reverence his wife I will also adress that. With this Scripture I will rebuke the weak man and tell him the WIFE must obey you not the other way around sir, MAN UP MAN!!!! You blaspheme the Word of God...Titus 2:5... (women are) To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

I know many of these scriptures adress maaried women wives... but wives are senior to unmarried women, for the married women are to teach the younger unmarried women how to submit to husbands. So do not come to me and try to tell me unmarried women is men. Even Paul was unmarried and he was an Apostle... So it is clear that MEN AND WOMEN are NOT the same! And NEVER will be. I cannot bear child so I cannot get salvation this way...1Ti 2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

I cannot be saved in CHILDBEARING... Only women can. And so can only men TEACH AND TALK IN CHURCH.

Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

And if this is not enough proof, then I rest my case. I am not here to please pastac or any other man (or woman) The Word of God says a woman may not teach or speak in church and all prophets and spiritual men will KNOW this. I am here becasue this is also true for me.... But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

My heart is pure before God and all here on CC. I love you all, even if you stand 100% against the Word of God. Me? I cannot change your minds, I can onnly share mine and the TRUTH on my heart.

God has NEVER given woman AUTHORITY to teach and preach. NEVER! You are adding to scripture to even suggest that. God said go tell teh brethren... not the rest of the world.... and to the brethren he said GO PREACH to the whole world.... When Mary said what she had to, she was DONE talking for God.

Actually p_r, I was referring to wisdom. Just start at 43-45 and then link to Amber's post. She mentioned wisdom. I was saying that wisdom was not a woman. And suggesting that "she" was probably talking about God's chosen people: Then Israel, Now the Church.

Oh so what about a mother who instructs her son, or tries to teach and preach the gospel of Christ to him? Or an older grandmother to a younger man?

And so they have no authority over these men? Has no older woman no right to correct a younger man? Or even a younger woman ?

Everything has to be done keeping in mind Christ.

These instructions were given for the glory of God, and not man. So be careful before you go around condemning everything lest you condemn what God has blessed.

So I wandered into the Bible Study Room this afternoon, hoping to learn something. At that time there were two women dominating the chat, almost non stop. What they said, and the way the said it, came across as teaching, sometimes even preaching. I guess there's nothing wrong for a woman to express her personal faith in Jesus Christ, but this went way too far in my opinion. Should women be allowed to dominate the chat in such a way at CC (especially in Bible Study Room) if we take scripture seriously? Your thoughts please, preferably backed up with scripture. Thank you.

Jesus was a friend to women.

He didn't condemn the woman caught in adultery or the woman at the well. He ate and talked with Mary and Martha. There was a woman who cried at his feet.
He never turned a woman away for being a woman.

There are many men who dominate chat as well, and no one resents that because of their gender. They just resent it.

If you never want to learn anything from a woman, then go live among monks. Don't come in a chat where women may be present
 
Define the Church according to God's Word. Mark 11:15-19

This is the first principle of Religion, so listen closely. Jesus said My House, my Father’s House shall be called a House of Prayer. The atmosphere of My Father’s House is supposed to be prayer. The atmosphere around the things of My Father must be that aroma of people opening their hearts and coming to my Father in worship and in partition and supplication.

The thing that is supposed to distinguish Christian Churches and Christian people and Christian gatherings, is the aroma and the atmosphere, of prayer. God’s work, God’s House, the Christian religion is always supposed to have the aroma of prayer.

Have you ever noticed that the Christian Church was not born while someone was preaching, but while people were praying? Have you ever noticed that in the second chapter of the book of Acts, when the Church was born, they were doing nothing, just waiting on God and praying? And they were just sitting there as they were praying, and worshiping and waiting and having heart communion with God. And God was shaping them and cleansing them out and doing those heart operations that only the Holy Spirit can do, the Church was born, the Spirit was poured out. My House shall be called a House of prayer. In the 4th Chapter, Peter and John are arrested, and they are slapped around and threatened, don’t you preach anymore in that name. And what do they do? They don’t go and protest, they don’t go to court, they don’t try to get some political leverage, and they went back to a prayer meeting. They went back and said OH God, look how there’re threating us, but Oh God we lift our voices together to you, Oh God behold their threats and give your servants boldness that we might preach in the name of Jesus. And the place where they prayed was again shaken, and they all were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the Word of God with boldness. My House Shall be called a House of Prayer. They had this instinct that when in trouble pray, when intimidated pray, when challenged pray, when persecuted pray.

And we have in the day that we live in allot of revisionism going on, but it’s not coming for the Church Conferences, or Government, it’s coming from the Church. We are revising what a Church is today, the Bible says and they continued, this early Church they continued steadfastly in the Apostles Doctrine, and in fellowship and in the breaking of bread and in prayer. Now we have revised that and said, if you can get people for one hour on Sunday morning in a building, that’s the Church, that’s not the Church. We can use every device we want to get people for one hour, and keep it early, and keep it moving, and keep it going, because people have important things to do that day. That’s not the story of the Christian Church, that might be the story of your Church, but that’s not the Church Jesus built. In the history of revivals down through the ages have taught us that whenever things have grown craze, commercial, secular and hard and worldly, God sends a revival. And what’s always the sign of a revival? Behold, they pray, the Church begins to pray. Moody goes somewhere in England, and they begin to pray. Finney goes to upstate New York, and they begin to pray. The great awaking happens in America, and they begin to pray, who was the fancy preacher? Nobody, they prayed. Where was the great music, awe they made great psalms, but that was not the great thing about it, they prayed. Prayer preceded it, prayer kept it going, and the minute prayer ended, the Spirit of God lifted and we got back into tough times for the Church of Jesus Christ.

So bless the women that work side by side with men and are an explanatory example of servitude. Lets not argue about yes or no, because we have been instructed not to argue unless it's to defend the birth, life, death or blood and the most important the resurrection, in all other subjects, let the ignorant remain ignorant. Be blessed because we are the blood bought and greatly loved. Is that not enough?

I am building my church and in their hope shall I complete my church in a time I keep that everyone shall know. Her presence shall be mighty and his presence shall be as his evening with her... (NMV)

Ok Cobus here we go.Bible Answer: Remember this letter was written in response to the many questions the church was asking in another letter. 1 Corinthians 7:1 says, "Now for the matters you wrote about…" The Corinthian church wrote a letter asking Paul questions. I believe the passage you quoted was actually Paul quoting one of the false teachings going on in the Corinthian church.
Notice the entire language of the statement about women being silent.
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only. (1 Cor 14:34-36, KJV)

After this chauvinistic statement Paul exclaims "What?" Paul is almost beside himself when he reads back this statement from the letter written to him. Paul is not the one making the statement. Paul is quoting from the letter. The fact Paul exclaims, "What? came the word of God out from you?" shows that the statement came from the Corinthian church, and they were claiming to exclude the women from speaking based on the Law, which they claimed was the word of God.
Of course when you recognize that Paul did not teach the Law but Grace, you realize Paul would never use the Law to prove anything. The author of this statement about women remaining silent used the Law as the basis of this practice. "But they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law." Paul would never use the Law to enforce any behavior. Paul taught that the Law was nailed to the cross (see Ephesians 2:15 and Colossians 2:14), so why would he appeal to the Law to ban women? Paul did not agree with the statement but questioned it.
In response to this ban on women, Paul says, "Let him acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord's command" (14:37). Paul taught and wrote that the women in Corinth could prophesy with their heads covered (ch 11). He also wrote, "For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged " (14:31). All can prophesy. That includes women!
Paul taught the equality of women and men. He recognized cultural behaviors such as the ones in Corinth, (example: head covered), but he also says, "In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman" (11:11). He differentiates between cultural norms and equality in the Lord. His famous statement in Galatians should remove all doubt as to whether or not Paul was a "woman hater" as some have claimed.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Gal 3:28)

Concerning the roles of women in the Lord, there is no ban from the ministry. A woman can do everything a man can do as far as the ministry is concerned. There should be equality in the ministry. I believe a woman can pastor.
Some will argue that Jesus never ordained women to be His apostles, thus, setting aside women from being in the ministry. If you argue against women being pastors by appealing to the fact that the apostles were men, then you must ban slaves and Greeks from the ministry, because Jesus only chose free men who were Jews to be His apostles.

I haven’t heard any Gentiles willing to step down from the ministry, because the Apostles were Jews.
Here is the way I interpret passages, which appear to discriminate. I will not use the Bible to discriminate against anyone. I always look to use the scriptures to liberate people, not place them in bondage. I think it is time to quit holding to interpretations that put people in bondage. We must be willing to admit that we don’t know everything, and be willing to side in with grace.

Let our conscience guide us when we are confused about certain passages. Another Pastor Tom Brown who wrote most of this information feels this way as do thousands of people, thousands of Pastors around the world. So they are all wrong and only you and your interpretation are correct? No Cobus I love you enough to tell you your thinking is box thinking you are keeping the word of God in a box trying not to let it expand your mind.Jesus did not teach exclusion if so the he would exclude you for not being Jewish,or for being black,or even for being a woman God forbid Cobus. You have to allow the scripture to enlighten you and not use bad theology. In my opinion Paul was giving an opinion not practicing bad theology, excluding women from roles in ministry is very bad theology and twisting scripture to try to prove a bad point is paramount to false doctrine,
Women are good enough to carry the word but not good enough to speak it? Last point if a woman has no husband who the speaks for her? None of the not speaking don't teach a man stuff is excluded from her right? If you want to handle the things of God you have to do so and use the mind of Christ not get stuck on the words of Paul. Jesus said differently about women and I will take Jesus over Paul both in wisdom and teaching!

Some of these women had direct contact with Jesus in a literal way they touched him talked to him even prepared is body for burial. You who are twisting scripture want to discount the role women play in the modern church. Some ought to be praying for a better understanding concerning what Paul was actually saying.
I ascribe to the belief that Jesus uses women to bring the word as well as he used that donkey to bring a word. The word that the donkey spoke was a word that captivated. Am I saying women are donkeys NO! I am saying God can use who he wants to bring forth his word and he does use women and has released his authority to them as well as he has to men. That is sound bible theology anything else is close to false doctrine[/SUP]

God uses whomever God likes but women do not receive the law and do not receive revelation.

God made men and women equal but different for different roles. Men look after the current generation and women look after the future generation. The role of a preacher is generally to tend to the current generation as a shepherd tends to his flock.

....well, I guess it depends on what you mean by "revelation."

Acts 2:17) And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

pretty clear to me what women do and can receive revelations, but that may just be me......
 
.....anudder question fer ya........if what you say is true, how come men go off to work and leave women at home to care for the current generation? should'na the men be there to do that?

Wrong what more revelation do you need than Jesus being God born through a woman! Are you so far off base that you don't get that revelation!
