Women seperate from men?

I worked in engineering library, and at the time, the university was trying to encourage more women to study engineering, just as they wanted more women to study medicine. Now there are many female doctors and engineers, which is a GOOD thing, but those who did study found the barriers came from the men, they didn't want women to be interested in the same things they were.

I'm not an engineer or doctor, but if I was interested in the field and then told I couldn't or shouldn't bother because I'm female, I would be like 'you've got to be kidding me right?'

Also, working in the library field and education sector and some workplaces really need more men as it felt unbalanced if we didn't have that. I think workplaces worked MUCH better when there was a balance of the genders. Also gardening its good to have a balance there too.

I think in terms of Bible study, its pretty silly to have just men or just women groups. When I had mine, anyone could join it didn't matter. I would have not specified male or female. When I did reading and book clubs, I'd encourage boys to join, because having all girls they can get catty, but boys would behave better if they had girls around. I don't like the whole boys vs girls things they try to encourage in some schools. We all have to learn to live together, and it's better to get along, then be antagonistic and go our separate ways.

Some Christian groups can be like 'have I joined a cult? Why do I feel like its more like Islam, where women aren't allowed to do this or that???'

In my congregation ( which I no longer attend ) we had a weekly Bible class . Women covered their heads and were not permited to speak . Brethren presided and opened the meeting with a prayer and then closed it with a prayer . It's about women not usurping male authority during official get togethers that r opened and closed with a prayer . After the meeting is closed , any woman can say anything about anything , no problem . Just before I left , they recinded this rule which made me very uncomfortable . Previously , on many occasions , during official meetings , I have heard brothers say things that r completely incorrect . Another brother at the meeting may politely correct the brother that says something wrong but only occasionally did this happen . As Christians we r not to offend or embarrass each other , especially in front of the rest of the congregation .
I did not enjoy being able to speak during Bible class this really felt like a burden and a temptation to me . because , every time I heard a brother say something incorrect I was desperate to correct him but also terrified as to what his reaction might b to me correcting him . I have no desire whatsoever to knowingly embarrass anyone , yet , if I believed I knew better I so badly wanted to parade my superior knowledge / understanding . This conflict was very distressing to me so I vowed to myself to continue being silent in official meetings . I know that this irked the other women I just couldn't win .
Eventually I left anyway and I'm glad I kept my mouth shut and never embarrassed anyone , not even myself , for a change .

Are there instances in the Bible where the women and men are spearated when fellowshipping.
Just wondering, as Im a bit weary of all these christian women groups, its like, ok I get that maybe women need to have their own groups for certain things, but arent we meant to be one in Christ and not always separated into male and female.

Sometimes sisters actually want to hang out with their brothers too. And wont both be richer for it?

If you fellowship with Quakers, they all remain silent anyway. If someone does have inspiration to speak, I don't think it matters if they are male or female.
Nobody is pressured to speak if they don't want to. I think there is a coordinator, who just announces what's going on during the week, but it's usually someone nominated, man or woman, to speak in front of everyone. There's no rules saying it has to be male or female.

In one church I was asked to do a scripture reading at the begining of service. I didn't expound on the scripture, I just read from the Bible, so that everyone could hear what the scripture said.

Jesus did the same thing in the synagogue, just did the reading for the day, although he did kind of add, today the scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. But you can say that about a lot of scriptures, that they get fulfilled when you hear them. Also there are certain days and times when you say certain scriptures.

I don't think it matters if a male or female reads the Bible out loud, as long as they read it loudly enough so everyone can hear. Thats when a microphone can come in handy.

The teachers, whether male or female, don't like to have their authority questioned.
It's just men probably get angrier when they are, in the olden days they would have given you the strap in school. A female teacher could strap you, but they probably wouldn't do it as hard as a male teacher.
