Ok Everyone,

Before we begin, PLEASE tell me someone out there remembers the "Super Friends" cartoon, please.

My friend Chad said to me today at work, "Kim! I've been thinking, do you know who we should totally try to set up X (single guy we both know) with?" And I immediately answered, "Y! (single girl we both know)" (Don't you love friendships where you can finish each other's thoughts without them having to say anything?)

He laughed and said, "Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking too... except that X has said he'd never go out on a blind date."

"Not a problem," I told him. "We'll simply arrange for a group event, and make sure both X and Y are there." (Perhaps old age is turning me into a sneakier, more conniving person! :D)

We fist bumped, and I said, "Wonder Twin Powers, Activate!" and he looked at me like I was crazy (yeah, I get that A LOT) because he had no idea what I was talking about. (Does anyone else remember the Super Friends? The Hall of Justice? Legion of Doom??? And of course, the Wonder Twins, with their pet monkey??? *echo, echo, echo*)

Well anyway... I just got to thinking: what have your experiences been in playing matchmaker or letting someone else set you up on a blind date... or in this case... a "casually planned" meeting? How has it gone? Have you witnesses any of these arrangements to produce any meaningful relationships?

Don't make me break out anymore 80's cartoon references!

Yeah, I kind of remember the wonder twins. I think one of them could assume various forms of water if I'm not mistaken. They had the rings that they had to join together in order to use their powers. I've never done the blind date thing, not really against it, it's just never come up. However, one of my best friends met his fiancee on a blind date. His date wasn't the woman whom he's now engaged to, but he did meet his fiancee while on the date. Long story, with details I don't fully know. An example that we don't always know what God has planned, and He has enough of a sense of humor to show us in funny ways at times.

The Wonder Twins recently made an appearance on "Smallville", too. Your friend needs a pop-culture lesson, priority one! :D

As for the whole "blind date" thing, I've never been on one, nor have I ever set anyone else up like that either. Maybe its weird to some people, but i don't understand the appeal of dating someone you haven't even met before.

I've never heard of wonder twins, though I remember attack of the killer tomatos.

As for matchmaker. I stay aways from that.
