Ok Everyone,
Before we begin, PLEASE tell me someone out there remembers the "Super Friends" cartoon, please.
My friend Chad said to me today at work, "Kim! I've been thinking, do you know who we should totally try to set up X (single guy we both know) with?" And I immediately answered, "Y! (single girl we both know)" (Don't you love friendships where you can finish each other's thoughts without them having to say anything?)
He laughed and said, "Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking too... except that X has said he'd never go out on a blind date."
"Not a problem," I told him. "We'll simply arrange for a group event, and make sure both X and Y are there." (Perhaps old age is turning me into a sneakier, more conniving person!
)
We fist bumped, and I said, "Wonder Twin Powers, Activate!" and he looked at me like I was crazy (yeah, I get that A LOT) because he had no idea what I was talking about. (Does anyone else remember the Super Friends? The Hall of Justice? Legion of Doom??? And of course, the Wonder Twins, with their pet monkey??? *echo, echo, echo*)
Well anyway... I just got to thinking: what have your experiences been in playing matchmaker or letting someone else set you up on a blind date... or in this case... a "casually planned" meeting? How has it gone? Have you witnesses any of these arrangements to produce any meaningful relationships?
Don't make me break out anymore 80's cartoon references!
