I was thinking about the Kingdom of Heaven today. (Not totally sure what the phrase means, to be honest).
It happened as I was in my car. I was praying and talking to God, and it was as if I understood something deep within me. I was thinking about how we're kind of in two places at once, as we walk this earth.
Just to be clear, I'm figuring things out. I have a lot of questions about things and am no expert, so please help me if I'm in error or you can say it in a better way!
Anyhow, it made me think about how, in a way, we're in heaven right now if we're in Christ Jesus.
By this I mean we're connected to God through the Holy Spirit, and so if we're one with Him then I guess we are already in the Kingdom of Heaven because we're connected to Him spiritually. Our bodies, of course, are on the earth, but we have that connection to the "vine," (John 15:5) Jesus, who feeds our souls and spirits and nourishes us from above.

It made me think about a couple of verses:
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”

And this one:
“for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”

Today was a good day because I felt close to Jesus. Thankful for that!

God bless you all

Your actually not far off:) yes it is true that in heaven when we are there we will reside in his kingdom we know what it's like to be royalty but his kingdom is also a spiritual one as his kingdom is inside us and all around us.

to be in his kingdom is to be in his presence and to be in love and peace and joy because that is what his kingdom is and every time we say save a soul or give hope or joy to someone we expanding his kingdom every smile that we bring to people is expanding his kingdom. These are very good things to ponder about as they will bring us closer to him and give us a much better perspective of him

The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven are the same and it is God' s rule****God rules in heaven and we rule on Earth as God's ambassadors...

I see where you're getting this from, but its not entirely accurate.
We are earthbound. We are at war, our spirit and our flesh. To strengthen our spirit requires reading the Bible regularly, prayer and avoiding things that feed our flesh. If we were 'in heaven' in the sense you are suggesting then we would be in God's presence. Imagine what that would do to our spirit. No need for bible reading, prayer would be more like a literal back and forth conversation. Overcoming our flesh would be easy.
No, we do still have a degree of separation. We still sin. We are not spiritually in God's presence (heaven). God Sends His spirit to us, He does not raise us to His spirit.
God is omnipresent. He is everywhere. To be in His presence does not mean, by default, heaven.
Interesting thought though, and good to always be thinking to learn.

Hi Rosyshine, Here are a few thoughts on what Jesus meant by the "Kingdom of Heaven" In Luke 17;21-ff Jesus says the Kingdom of heaven in in your midst. In John 18:36 Jesus responding to Pilate says, my kingdom is not of this world. That's interesting, is the Kingdom in our midst or not of this world. Well its both, its seems to be the unfolding of the plan of God in the person of Christ. In a nutshell its John 3:16 For God so loved the World...(God loves the people of this world) Here is a side note, no where with the false God of Islam does it say that Allah loves the unbelievers. The God of the Bible, the one and only true God loves everyone, how much? Back to John 3:16 God gave his only begotten son. ( Some don't realize that Jesus Christ was God himself that loved people so much that he came to the earth, became a man, lived a sinless life and took all of the world sins and died for people, John 1:1, Isaiah 9;6 and many others. Sorry I digressed there a bit, its a personality flaw. But back to John 3:16 whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. (That's another part of the Kingdom of God, us being with God in heaven forever. In other words the Kingdom of Heaven seems to be the Gospel of Christ in its entirety, something that was never reveled until Christ came. So I think its like what you mentioned in part anyways as you mentioned Ephesians at the end of your post. Check out Chapter 1, pretty much the whole chapter but note vs 10 Its speaks of Christ and the fullness of the times and the summing up of all things in Christ, this is a beautiful and powerful passage of scripture, every time I read it I get something more out of it, there is incredible spiritual depth in the book of Ephesians, especially the 1st 3 chapters. Its no wonder that Paul says in Ephesians 1:17 that God may give us a sprit of wisdom in this passage and of the knowledge of Christ. So the Kingdom of heaven begins when we come to Christ personally continues as we grow with him and finishes when we meet him and it includes God plan as well for the church age, the rapture of the church, the great tribulation, the 2nd coming of Christ, the 1000 year reign of Christ, and our future everlasting life with Christ, notice the theme, its all about Jesus Christ. I hope this was some help to you, bless you and your study of God's word.
