well he hated the king/prime minister (or something like that) in like the 1800's and he didnt like him so he put gun powder under the houses of parliment and was about to blow the buiding up ( with the dude he didnt like , inside the building ) and was caught red handed

so we burn him every year :D

yup, on the top of a fire made of wood scarps and othe bruneable things people have lying around
 
St Hans, a celebration in norway where we put lots of old stuff in a fire, light it and burn a witch on it (!) Quite an odd tradition really, as norway used to be viking territory... oh well, it's fun
